Hey guys,
I'm in my late 20's and have been on Propecia for at least 6 years now. It worked amazingly well - regrowth and effectively halting the loss. However, I noticed after a recent short haircut my hair feels much thinner and I can see through to scalp in bright light where I couldn't before. This is very recent I think (last 1-2 months).
I am trying to think of reasons that my hair loss/thinning might have accelerated. I did move to a new city so it could be stress. It could also be a hair growth cycle thing. However, I quit cigarettes about 4 months ago with the help of smoking a Juul ecigarrette. I was only smoking cigarettes occasionally (maybe 2/week). I now have been smoking the equivalent nicotine content of 1.5-2 packs/week (15-20x increase) because it is so addictive and easy to do with an ecig. I've heard it is a vasoconstrictor (constricts blood vessels) so perhaps is causing my hair to receive less blood/oxygen/nutrients.
Do you think there could be any connection? I know people think smoking is damaging but I didn't know if it is the nicotine or specifically the cancer-causing smoke.
In any case I will quit and report back in a month or two to let everyone know if there was any change.
