Where did this stuff go? I used to buy two 7 oz bottles on Amazon for $30 bucks!!! Now they're going for like $80 on eBay
There's no issue @ all with the 2% if you can get it from a pharmacy or online --
The 1% has issues. I've heard a few explanations for the shortage:
-- Some manufacturing issue with a plant in Washington state (or North Carolina), waiting for a new plant to come online.
-- FDA has "banned" it.
1. I'm not sure I buy either explanation. All the 1% Nizoral I've purchased OTC in the US has always originated from Belgium, whether it was @ Walgreens, Amazon, or otherwise. I've never seen a US (Washington or NC) manufactured bottle, ever.
2. There are other 1% Keto shampoos, such as Regenepure still on that market, that don't seem subject to any additional FDA scrutiny.
3. There was an interview posted on a black woman's hair form (sorry, I don't have the URL) with a manufacturer's rep. for the 1% shampoo. In this interview, the rep stated that 1% production probably would *never* be restarted, as the company no longer has the motivation to continue production of this shampoo. $160/bottle would seem like motivation, but I'm not a chemist or an MBA.
I highly doubt the 2% stuff is even made by the same outfit as the 1%. The "Nizoral" name seems to be somewhat genericized, and the packaging, bottle and labeling varies by region, and is always different than the 1%.
