nizoral can make hair loss WORSE?

One of the little known sides of nizoral is that it can actually cause hair loss! Really, read the side effects section on the leaflet or google it if you don't believe me.
Been using nizoral for about a month now (no more then 3 times a week) and my hair is defiantly thinner. I'm assuming this isn't that common otherwise people wouldn't use it to treat hair loss if it just made things worse (duh) but even so.......
Has anyone else experienced this?
Is it possible that this is just a shed and the hair could grow back (as far as I know nizoral doesn't have a shedding phase does it)?
Should I just ditch nizoral while I'm ahead or stick with it?
Thanks.

Are you on any other treatments? Maybe try just using it 1-2 times a week?

I doubt any shampoo can cause hairloss, its probably just in your head

I am a female most likely suffering from Chronic Telogen Effluvium and also probably some early Androgenetic Alopecia (per scalp biopsy,) and I know it sounds crazy but since my hair loss started about 6 months ago I have been counting every hair I lose to the best of my ability. 2% Nizoral has caused me to lose significantly more hairs when I used it a few times compared to other shampoos. I lose between 100-200 hairs normally when I shampoo, but I shed ~500 hairs one time I used Nizoral, and over 200 the other few times. I know shedding is not really "losing" hair permanently, and I'm not sure if my experience means anything to you, but I thought I'd share. I've talked to other people who have had similar experiences.

I should mention that I sometimes use another ketocoanzale shampoo (Regenepure) without excessive shedding.

I'm also on finasteride, however I initially used nizoral on its own and I noticed my hair getting thinner before I started using finasteride. Also I'm now only using nizoral once a week.

Believe what you want but again it's there in the information leaflet that hair loss is a potential side effect of nizoral. Fact.
However, I'm willing to accept that my insecurity is making me think the hair loss is worse then it is.

Thanks, this is my problem really. If it's a "shed" then I'm ok with that because as you say the hairs will grow back and it could actually be a good thing but a shed and actual permanent hair loss are 2 different things. The side effects section for nizoral says "hair loss" not shedding so I really don't know weather to continue or not.

Yeah I feel like nizoral did the same for me. For some reason people fiercely defend all members of the big 3 if anyone says that 1 (or more) made their hair worse. It may have something to do with people thinking the big 3 is all we have so when they hear that it can make things worse they stick their fingers in the ears and shout down the accusers more than the average libtard would to any rational human. Although I've seen this done for all the big 3 it is primarily done for Minoxidil, I feel both minoxidil and Nizoral made my hair worse in the space of 4 1/2 months.

Nizoral doesn't do much for me, other than make my hair look thin and greasy. It also irritates my scalp, causing small red bumps/sores. No bueno.

Funkymonk,

I think even "shedding" for someone who definitely has Androgenetic Alopecia is not a good thing. It's gonna be a lot harder for someone with Androgenetic Alopecia to recover from episodes of excessive shedding, compared to someone who doesn't have Androgenetic Alopecia. And Nizoral does cause excessive shedding, in my opinion.

So are you guys hinting that I should stop nizoral completely or maybe stick to once a week for now?
