but, is it bad? I feel like I am addicted to it now. If I don't use it, it feels like my scalp gets oily. What could this be?

My Nizoral experience has been the opposite side of the coin. I have wonderful feeling hair, but after using Nizoral it feels dry and a little brittle unless I use a good conditioner afterwards. It seems like the Nizoral is stripping my hair strands?

I think most here on this MB will testify that Nizoral is a bit rough. But, if you are having an experience with it like you say you have, then perhaps your scalp is responding well, and enjoying a more dry climate, so to speak? Lucky you.

Beyond that, I like Nizoral too. Even though it tends to be somewhat drying on the hair it has eliminated the initial flaking and itching I got from minoxidil. It might just be mental, or it might be the minoxidil and not the Nizoral that is causing this.. but, my scalp just feels 110% better ever since I started my regime. I used to have a very itchy scalp, which is now seemingly a thing of the past thanks to the regime.

Is it okay to use nizoral if you don't have any problems with your scalp, like itching or flaking?
I don't have any problems with my scalp, but I use nizoral 1% every 3-4 days because I'm taking propecia, and people suggest using nizoral if you're on propecia. I guess it's supposed to give you a healthier scalp and I've also heard it can wash away excess DHT on the scalp, though I'm not sure how true that is.

I'm wondering about Nizoral too. I've been using it for 3 months and although the "primary objective" of relieving itch has been achieved, I've also noticed my balding has accelerated. I don't know if it's a shed or what, but I've never had less hair. I knew I was balding before and then this came around, now I KNOW I'm balding.

I'm just wondering whether Nizoral could have had any effect on this. I use it pretty often because it also makes my hair look thicker (2-3 times a week) but am now wondering whether it could be the key contributor to my balding acceleration.

Thanks
Brian

nizoral is not contributing to your balding acceleration. What else are you taking besides that? If you are on propecia and have been taking that for 3 months, don't worry. It will get worse before it gets better.

Shedmaster is right. You aren't dealing with treatment that, for example, kills a bacteria in your system on contact where after a week you're fixed. Fighting hairloss is an inside-out kind of treatment that takes a good six months to fully ripple through your system from the inside out before you make judgements. There will be contradictory indications for a while for you, there will be sheds, and there will be days when you realize that existing hair is stronger and longer than it was previously. But, don't read too much into this, you know the medical statistics are in your favor over the long term so give it a chance to work.

Nizoral

I used nizoral 2 % for scalp condition exzema from the time i was 18 and up to about 23. i used prohormones for workout purposes and never lost a strand of hair. and i was on serious DHT converting androdiones for about 2 years straight. then i switched to head and shoulders and the prohormones made my hair fall at an alarming rate. and it was as soon as i stopped nizoral shampoo. i'm back on it now and i agree, it makes the hair kinda like straw but... it will keep the dht out of the scalp. bodybuilders on juice use it to combat steroid related hairloss. nizoral should be part of everyones hairloss combat regimen.

it basically makes your hair more firm. im trying to figure a way to put it. its harder, and when you rub your hands through it it feels like its got a plastic coating around the hair. i actually kinda like it though. i think it makes it feel fuller and thicker. but it doesn't leave your hair as soft as other shampoos though.

As far as i know, and i believe it because of my own personal experience with it.. its an anti-androgen in the scalp. so somehow it keeps the dht out of the follicle receptors. like i said before... as soon as i stopped nizoral shampoing, my hair fell out like super fast. i'd scratch my head and 50 hairs would fall out. so i immediatly stopped the prohormones, and started using saw palmetto extract on the scalp to seize the shedding. it helped but really only slowed it down. never put the 2 and 2 together untill i found out from my boys on the fitness board that they use nizoral when on an AS cycle. and it keeps them from falling out.
