Does anyone know why Nizoral is only recommanded twice a week. If it is an effective product, why not use it everyday???

so harsh on the scalp and hair, can dry your scalp beyond belief and could cause potentially negative reactions

If you are using the 1%, can you use it more often? And should you lather and rinse once or twice when you use it?

do you really buy into the rinse and repeat?

I heard that too, just not sure how that'd be all that much more effective.

You shouldnt use either Nizoral shampoo more then 2 or 3 times a week. Also theres no need to wash rinse and repeat. Once is enough. Nizoral can be very drying to the hair and scalp, and can certainely cause irritation if used to often.

Yeah this is a really important point people, using something more doesn't mean its more effective, its really important to use drugs/treatments as recommended.

A good example of this is alchohol, its been shown that having 1-2 units a day can slow the aging process, however having more than that a day will have the exact opposite effect.

Just goes to show that drugs can be a very delicate balance

i stopped using nizoral 2% for about a month and my scalp irritation seemed to get better. i just started using it again last week and the irritation seems to have come back.

i also tried t/gel but it left red bums on my scalp.

is there anything else i can try?

will head and shoulders work? or does it have to be a shampoo that removes DHT?

I use Nizoral 2% and immediately afterwards I use this 100% natural aloe-based shampoo. I buy it from one of those organic/health product stores. It really soothes my scalp and makes my hair bounce back from the beating nizoral seems to give it. Makes my hair appear thicker as well.
