nizoral

That's normal; ketoconazole (the active ingredient) reduces sebum production, which can often dry the scalp.

Hi,

on another forum (hairlosshelp ) there has been a discusision
on this. seach for the word inflammation there.

i too have some pimples on my scalp. it could be caused by
slightly excess use of nizoral. so try to slow it down for a while,
apply aloe vera (or hydro-cortisone in an extreme case)
and hopefully the pimples will stop (it hasn't for me yet)

applying some oils like cocunut oil, tea tree/lavender/emu
leaving it in for an hour or so and then washing it off
with nizoral might also help.

also consider anti-inflammatories like turmeric extract,
aspirin.

hope this helps.

is it normal for it to make hair thinner or give you red bumps on your head ?

I get pimples sometimes, less these days. I think excessive use of nizoral definitely causes pimples, so cut back a bit or try some of the remedies recommended in this thread.

About your hair being thinner. I don't think nizoral "thins" your hair, but it does strip away some of the oils on the hair and the hair actually feel thinner. I always use "generic" conditioner to give my hair a bit of moister and protection after nizoral.

In the long run, it should actually make your hair thicker.
