After 3 weeks on 5% minoxidil, I've finally started to get some pretty bad dandruff from it. Do you think it would be OK to use Nizoral every day for a while until I get it under control?

There are multitudinous reasons not to use Nizoral everyday. Tolerance, irritation, and dry hair are just a few. If you are really having issues go see a derm and rotate Nizoral with T-gel. If the flaking monoxidil induced it should subside in a few weeks.

using Nizoral certainly cannot hurt your scalp and if you have dandruff or other related issues that are causing you to feel "tingling" this should help. I recommend combining with TSAL and using every third day.

As for worrying a lot , I would relax; we all go out of this world in the same manner, just at different times! Relax and enjoy the time you have.

Most folks don't have autoimmune issues and most folks don' t seem to have much luck with derms.

I would suggest you buy a bottle of 1% nizoral and TSAL. Both OTC shampoos and total cost about $20. Use every third day for about a month and see how you feel.

Remember to leave on for 5 minute and then rinse.

Good luck

TSAL is salcytic acid and that apparently makes it a useful adjunct to Nizoral. Dandruff and scalp inflammation is often caused by several conditions. As I understand it, Nizoral hits it from an anti-fungal angle. TSAL helps "scrub" excess cells division that often occurs. Yuu def. want to handle that excess white gunk as it is often present when big time hair loss is going on (at least in my case it was).

Together they seem to work better and that is why Dr. Lee made his combo shampoo. I just buy them OTC and combine them in my hand at shower time.

Be sure to leave on 5 minutes.

If after say 6 weeks this does not work, you may want to swap TGEL for TSAL.

Good luck

Hello

So TSAL will help get rid of the white gunk and get rid of the major hair loss?....cause I count say 4 hairs on average anight on my pillow after i wake up.and say get hairs on my hand when i shampoo....and... its about on average ....11 hairs i guess..different times different amounts..11 hairs ov average i count from hand and bottom of showertub..and i get like 4 or 5 hairs from combing or so i dont really comb though ...which i have a shaved head about a little more than over an inch long.so u can see my scalp anyway.but....is that normal u think .to lose hair like that even when i have a shaved head?...also since i started using nizoral..i feel.....different..like.chemically..like.i feel.more at ease....like..calm...kinda of....sort of weird i think....im under stress alot... i also have an increasing amount of grey or white hairs on my head..and im only 25...what could that be u think?>..peace

You might want to say more about what kind of stress you are under. If you are say smoking, drinking to excess, not getting enough rest and eating a lousy diet, these are all stressors that can wreck more than your hairline (and that too!).

Lets make it simple and clear. Based on what hard research has tested, the following will work FOR MOST MEN MOST OF THE TIME. This is the best we can do.

Minoxidil 5% morning and night
Finasteride 1MG once a day.
Nizoral/TSAL Shampoo every third day.

Try this routine EVERY DAY for at least a year. This will produce the highest probability that you can regrow and/or retain your hair.

Ignore day to day variations and thoughts that you need to try something else. GIve this a year and you won't be sorry. Don't count how many hairs you lost today. This is folly!

Overall, clean up your act if you either smoke, drink to excess, do drugs, and don;t keep regular sleeping hours etc. Eat a balanced diet and don't eat fast food crap!

Does this help?

What I mean is to look at this from a long term perspective. We know that hair grows in cycles and hairl fallout does to. It is very possible that you may shed more hair (that is to say you will notice it more) as you move onto your new regimine. Some do, some don't.

In the long run, this does not matter. What does matter is that you create the environment that will allow you to re-grow and retain. The sciences says that the big three work most of the time for most of the people.

The rest is just conjecture. So, my advice is to just do the regimine and don't obsess. Get a haircut you like and some good shampoo for when you are not using Nizoral (I use nioxin) and then just go do something interesting (Ilike riding motorcycles and driving corvettes but that is just me!).

Good luck.

Brucelee

PS- working out and a good diet never hurt anyone.
