No shed yet...a bad sign?

I'm approaching the 8-month mark on finasteride. I haven't seen any changes yet, but when I read the other posts, it sounds like I should expect a mandatory shed before it really does its thing. Has anyone else found success without the propecia shed? I guess the bigger question is when we can safely know that we are among the 12-13% who are non-responders to the drug. Thanks.

Perhaps I don't. From all descriptions, I assumed that it was hair loss above and beyond what one normally has experienced through life. In my case, my loss has stayed the same, fairly minimal, but my hair just keeps miniaturizing more and more. Thanks.

what makes u think so u are non responder. Here are the signs that the treatment works

1) little or no itching since treatment

2) Vertex should start filling in faster than hairline or vice versa

3) if u saw other improvements or as in 2) 8 months later without any strange out of place/increased shedding, it may mean that u are one of those people who didnt expereinced treatment related shedding it, or at least one which was not obvious cosmetically.... U may or may not experience it in the future.More likleyhood of a seasonal shed

Hmmmm...I've been a good responder to my treatment option and I have yet to see a significant shed. Some shed while others don't. I don't think that if you shed or don't shed is the only idicator of success with your treatment.

When you say you see no changes, do you mean things haven't changed for the worse of for the better, or that things have continued to get worse?

Maintenance can be considered a form of success. Only a few people get huge, very noticeable amounts of regrowth on propecia.

A slight to moderate improvement is probably the best you can hope for, and it's not too late for that to happen.

In reference to #1, I have no itching in any temple area, but that is where I am really losing hair. I do have slight itching every now and then on my crown, but it is doing pretty well, although the hair there is thinning, but slowly. If I am suffering male pattern baldness (which I am) shouldn't there be itching in my temple area somewhere?[/quote]

The fact is that shedding is a BAD THING. It means your hair is falling out!

it doenst really matter where the itching really is. If u have male pattern baldness , then that's the typical itch u get.

I'm at the 9 month mark. Ive had good results, the majority of the results came in month 3 with not much else since. I havent had a shed yet.
