Give finasteride a try. Sides are rare, about 2 percent and overblown by the internet. My only regret with this wonder drug is not getting on it sooner. Come on dude, don't forego treatments to preserve your actual hair in favor of becoming a wig slave. And you will become a slave to that thing because once you start you have to keep doing it and keep the same hairstyle or else your cover will be blown and you will be outed as a wig wearer. You will be constantly paranoid over whether it is detectable or not, especially in relationships. That is unless of course you are willing to be open about wearing it. Most people aren't though, that's why the rug companies themselves market themselves as undetectable. It constantly has to be maintained to look good and it costs much more money long term than finasteride, minoxidil, and hair transplants. @shookwun and @WhitePolarBear will tell you that "hair systems" are not a very good option. Many people eventually give up on hairpieces, because you are essentially living a lie. You become two people, the real bald you, and the "you" that has fake hair glued to your head. Many people grow tired of having to live the lie and end up accepting their baldness instead. You will grow tired of the maintenance, limitations, and stigma of a hairpiece and then you will live a life of regret.

You're probably doing yourself a favor here. Judging by your postings here you seem like a very undecided and anxious person unless you are trolling this forum by hijacking threads with pics of your hair and asking the same questions in several threads. You will definately get side effects if you take finasteride.

Do not take it if you are prone to anxiety and will start obsessing over side effects.

The first time I tried it, I took it for a month but everyday I popped the pill, I started running worrying thoughts through my head about what I was doing.

Then I quit and told myself that I valued my health more than vanity.

But, as time passed and my hair got worse, I had to do something, because I was getting even more anxious at how bad my hair was getting. So I got back on it and told myself, even if I got side effects, I had to try something because I couldn't even stand to look at myself in the mirror.

Here's my recommendation. Take finasteride, maybe .5mg instead of 1mg if it makes you feel more comfortable. It is nearly just as effective. If you notice any side effects post on here if you want opinions. Many of the minor ones go away in a couple weeks. If you notice erectile dysfunction or significant libido issues, then drop it. The half-life is very short, so it will be completely out of your system in a couple weeks. Persistent sides are very rare, and usually occur in people who take the drug for years despite having bad side effects.

Even though I've continued to lose hair on finasteride, I was looking at old pictures and realized my hair loss was already kicking in pretty fast at 20 (don't understand why as it doesn't really run in my family, but guess I got really really unlucky). I probs would be worse off without it. Your hair loss isn't that aggressive. If you respond well you should be able to maintain and possibly regrow some hair.

Also, I had horrible health anxiety before hair loss. I took it anyway because I cared so much about my hair that I wasn't going to let my anxiety prevent me from being happy. Unfortunately didn't respond super well, but now my health anxiety is completely gone and all I can think about all day is my fuckn hair. If you get regrowth and your hair looks great you aren't going to worry about your hair so you're more likely to start worrying about these side effects and convincing yourself you have them. If your hair continues to get worse, trust me, you won't have time to convince yourself you have sides, all you will think about is your deteriorating hair.
