Not Going To Take finasteride To Risky For My Health In The Long Run

That would likely be total testosterone which does rise (as does estrogen). Other studies I remember seeing showed that free/usable testosterone drops.
Almost 2 years ago I made the decision to start, and it was the worst decision of my life. Before I start let me tell you this, I am not a fear mongerer who claims that Merck should be burned alive but I just want to share my opinion with you.
I did get side effect and I got them bad... After 8 months of trying to ride them out (as was recommended) I decided to quit. More than 1 year later and I still have not completely recovered (ED). In the first months it fucked me up so bad mentally that I lost my job and my relationship.
You will find many people here saying A. that finasteride sides areBS. You will also see people that say that B. finasteride is pure poision...
Here is what I think based on 100's of hours on these message boards:
- The 2% is not accurate.
- People with extreme opinions usually have an underlying emotional motive for it. For the people in group A their motive is that they don't want to face a potential reality that finasteride actually CAN BE a very dangerious drug (even for the ones that don't feel any sides). They simply only like the part of the reality where it improves their hair and only want to face that part of the reality. The people in group B are so anti-finasteride because they are having a hard time coping with the fact that they are in the minority who cannot handle the drug well. 'If I can't do it, no one can!'
Given my personal experience, I would recommend against it and suggest you try zix or minoxidil.

What I'm saying is that you are getting a biased view on the drug here as a lot of people here would rather see themselves castrated before they lose their hair. Furthermore a lot of people here suffer from low self-esteem ( no offense). The fact of the matter is, one 10 year study is out that reported about 8% side effect rate. Some might see that as a small chance, others a big chance of developing sides. All I know is that you have a bigger chance of developing sides then winning the lotto. So yes it can happen to you. Don't think you're immune. Furthermore, what we don't know is how underreported the study is. What makes research solid is repeatability. Furthermore there's a lot of new research coming out on the drug and sexual sides which no one mentions.

Why don't you try zix or minoxidil? There are safter options than finasteride than CAN give similar results... Don't fall for the 'go finasteride or go bald' battle cry.

Health is second priority in the hairloss industry. Finasteride isn't a guarantee you will keep or regrow. You have to use everything if you want the best chance at success. Goodluck.
I dont know if its still the case, but the derm I saw maybe 10 years ago said he had tons of men on finasteride. It was very safe, and none of his patients had issues. He wrote me the script, and I decided to wait because my hair was still very good. Maybe today he would say differently or has seen other issues come up I dont know.

C'mon, man. It's just finasteride, f*****g DHT-inhibitor. What are you afraid of? Permanent chemical castration? Gyno? Well, when I was taking meds that was designed primarily for chemical castration (i. e. stop testosterone production), I still experienced libido and it was possible to have sex, but of course not without efforts. But finasteride is even not comparable by its power with such potent antiandrogens I am using, so you shouldn't worry about it side effects... well, at least sexual, cause I developed mild gyno on finasteride, lol.

Don't do finasteride. I mean really dude, do you want to have the embarrassment of not being able to get it up when you are in bed with some hot chick. I personally would rather avoid finasteride. I am sure the chicks will still dig me with my Norwood 7 horseshoe and I want to still be able to get hard for them.
