Nothing works for me?

I went to my dermatologist and he basically told me that it's Rogaine and Propecia. After using Rogaine for quite a while I noticed my scalp was terribly irritated so I switched to Propecia. It slowed things down but now, after several years, it's not making much difference and I'm losing a lot from the front and sides. I'm starting to see a spot in the back too.

Now I'm reading about all of these other drugs here but I can't help but think that most of them really won't work and it's one or the other. If you don't have male pattern baldness (I don't having frontal go first), then you're not in a great situation to respond to any of these medications.

So I'm hoping that someone can help me make sense of all these overwhelming drugs I'm seeing here that my dermatologist is rolling his eyes about. The next step is scary... transplantation. Those scars and questionable hair growth are terrifying. A good friend of mine did 4000 grafts with someone who is supposedly a top notch surgeon and clinic and he ended up having their associates do most of the work, not a tremendous amount of hair growing and I could see little red scabs there still months later. Ugh... I'd hope to avoid this...

well first off. are you positive that you have male pattern baldness? if not, you should check your scalp for miniaturization (from a derm). cause if you don't have male pattern baldness, you don't want to be messin with your hormones with finasteride.
You should also purchase nizoral shampoo and use that every few days, as it keeps the scalp very healthy and is thought to have some anti-DHT properties.
Lastly, have you tried using a different kind of minoxidil? you could be allergic to an ingredient in the one you tried before.
I'm not an expert on this but i hope i helped.
