I'm only 25 and I miss the days when journalists/authors had to be of a certain intellectual/academic caliber to be taken seriously or even published. Now it seems like you can get money for writing clickbait articles. Seems to me that she is just saying that she feels better about her own insecurities knowing that men, who usually don't have much to worry about, are feeling exposed and vulnerable, and self-conscious of their appearance. Much in the same way you post threads about Andy Murray losing his hair, or how it makes you feel better about yourself to know that hair loss can happen to a powerful person like Prince William, or an A-lister like Bruce Willis.

You've made it perfectly clear with this example and many others that you've got your head buried in the sand. I clearly stated earlier in this thread that whatever a bald/balding guy does; styles, trims, treats or as in this example, even if shaves all the way down, he's STILL bald. It's been pointed out countless times on this forum and others that being a bald man will always affect you in a negative way. There are NO positives in this ordeal... and this is the problem I and others have with you; you're either being deliberately stupid or are simply incredibly ignorant... or oblivious.

There is always an exception to the rule but way more often than not (pretty much almost always), shaving due to baldness will still peg you as a second rate citizen if not third. We've seen it happen to celebrities that relied on their looks for screen time and this happens even more often in the real world to regular men. But for some reason, you downplay reality just like that author of the article. Which begs the question; if baldness wasn't 'so bad', then why are women repulsed by it? Why are men stressing over it? Why do the guys with full heads of hair fare better in life than those without? Why do so many forums on hair loss exist? Why is there a billion dollar industry for hair loss treatments that are sh!t. WHY are you fvcking ignorant?

Sorry for the women who have experienced this but nowadays it works both ways. I've read of so many cases where women seduce their employers, supervisors at big firms, department stores and then sue them successfully for sexual harrassment. Quite the crafty manipulators

I've now read that article properly. It seems to be she is insecure that women are past their sell by date post 20's. She's aware that men generally don't age like that and 40 year old men will still get pretty girls, we see this all the time. I think this hurts her. So, she is happy that the only thing that can stop older good looking men is the bald factor.

-Horseshoe grown out and no strands on top, ginger too: Could have a hair transplant as a Norwood 7, cover crown with good density and grow it down a bit. Seen some Dr Bernstein Norwood 7 patients and he has done a good job. Also try big 3. Buzz it e.t.c.

-He was not good looking, just average but he could go to the gym. No, I don't mean become a meathead baldie, but at least look reasonably athletic.

I really think some of you are overly up in arms and over reacting. I maintain that she's simply saying that it's comforting to herself that there are men who have vanity issues and can be as sensitive as women. Typically, women are held to a much higher standard, and have to worry about if their butt looks too big in their jeans, do their arms jiggle, do they have too much hair on their arms, are their lips too thin, etc etc etc. Even body fat--guys have a lot more wiggle room than girls do. So she's finally getting to the ago where men around her are losing her hair, and they can perhaps finally relate to what most women have to deal with (with regards to their outward appearance) from a much younger age.

Additionally, if you know a thing or two about internet journalism, you need a catchy title to get those clicks.

I've passed on many-a-women for things that I'm sure would make my mother ashamed. Unless Belgian women are vastly different than American women (which I don't think they are), I'm pretty sure most women are looking for someone who is ambitious, courteous, kind, funny, strong, committed, yada yada yada. It also depends on when you catch someone in their life. I've gone through phases where I just wanna bang out, and then sometimes I'm looking for a "partner in crime," as it were.

Aren't american women notorious for these expecations? I live in Canada and I've noticed the bigger the city, the grander the expectations are of women for men to be the 'alpha' guy they so dearly demand. Jessica Machado would fit in real well in Toronto.

You see it a lot on online dating profiles. A lot of women require that type of physique otherwise they won't let you talk to them or acknowledge your existence.

It's a myth that men expect so much from women in the looks department. Let's be honest here, almost all men would sleep with any girl as long as she's half-decent.

Women just won't settle for less than the ridiculous standards she set in her mind. Most women would rather die than sleeping with a man that doesn't match their demands.

That's why balding is such a tragedy for 95% of men, it's our most important attribute. No other change in our appearance will have as much impact.

Be bald in your 20's, or even 30's, any age for that matter and you're dead romantically for the vast majority of women.

There are always exceptions, and that's what they are, exceptions.

A fat old 45 year old woman will still have her chances with 95% of men. That's the harsh reality.

Don't get me wrong, I've certainly noticed that I wouldn't get as many glances if my hair was looking ****ty or I hadn't trimmed it in awhile, but I've also been carrying around 10-15 pounds more than I should--which in my own mind (and my eye) makes a huge difference in not only how I feel, but really how I look, and how I carry myself. Regardless, I have never had a shortage of women in my life.

A very good friend of mine is quite bald, but has kept his hot blond southern GF for quite a number of years, and he doesn't have much money. He did, however, meet her when he was playing minor league baseball (pretty much broke). Was she sticking around for the potential of money? I don't think so, as he's not in the minor leagues any more and they are still together. But he's tall, fit, and an athlete. So, +3 for the "Pro" column, right?

It's the same in Brussels, women have insanely high standards for men. My girlfriend is from a rural part of Belgium so she doesn't have this mentality.


I remember a girl cancelled a date with me because I wouldn't text back and forth with her for hours.

So that's another demand most Western girls have thanks to smartphones: give me attention 24/7!
