I've decided to not take finasteride for one week. I'll say that the reasons are fairly weak, but I want to be safe.

Will missing one week of finasteride make a big deal. I've been on it for 1.5 years.

You should be fine, i'd often skip finasteride for a week or two when i went on holiday as i never wanted to take it through customs.

No I don't think so, well not these days, but i'd often go on holiday round Europe to the usual places on lads holidays, and the last thing i wanted was to be explaining to people why I had tablets on me if foreign customs got sniffy about stuff. Ie you don't want to be discussing the finer points of european export law, on a greek island.

I think back at the time ( I was actually on propecia before it was approved in the UK), propecia might not have been approved in some of the countries, but don't quote me on that.

wierd, I've brought finasteride to many countries in the EU and nobody has ever said anything.
The first time I did it I crapped myself, I was in Eastern Europe and had a blister pack of foreign Proscar in my hand luggage. The man at the scanner grabbed my bag and said "Cosmetics" and pointed to the area where I had my finasteride.
I got very nervous and opened it, but it turned out I had just left some sun cream in there. Binned that and he let me through.
As long as it's just a blister pack how are they to know what it is? It could just be paracetamol.

You should be fine for a couple of weeks, easily. finasteride takes a couple of weeks to start to disappear entirely from your system. I'd say anything under a month is probably safe (as long as you aren't missing 4 months a year or anything)

This is good to hear. I've been taking finasteride for nearly a year, never missed a day, but right now I'm in a situation where I can't obtain any for one or two weeks. I was terribly worried that this would mean that all of the finasteride (and money spent on it!) I'd taken since June would become redundant and I'd be starting again at square one. So, this isn't the case?

I personally can't back this up with any studies, just personal experience, if i knew my 'stash' was running low, i'd maybe consider cutting the pills in half or if you're on proscar taking a quarter every other day, I've seen studies that show .5mg to be very effective.

Yes I have been on Proscar 1/4 every other day for almost 3 months. Going good

No, it takes a little time for A) your body to start producing more DHT again and B) for that DHT to start "attacking" your follicles

If you've been on a year but miss a couple of weeks you'll be fine. Just get back on it as soon as you can.
