Hi all,

I have been on Nizoral 1% for 4 months and my scalp is still very oily. When i scratch my head, i get white stuff under my nails and some tiny hairs, what could it be, is it dandruff ? Do I need to worry about this ?

I dont see flakes on my hair, only when i scratch it i see it under my nails.

Cheers,

One more question for you guys.

At the moment my hair is long but after the shower when I brush them I see "a lot" a short hair in my hands. Is this normal ? I mean does the fact that I am shedding very short hair indicate anything about the Big 3 efficacy for me ?

Don't scratch you head. Done, problem solved.

Seriously though, if you're concerned about the health of your scalp you should stop mechanically injuring it (scratching). Those flaky white things are parts of your scalp that you are removing.

Nizoral is not an anti-oil shampoo, it's an anti-dandruff shampoo. Additionally you're technically not supposed to brush your hair while it's wet after a shower as it's more brittle then and can easily break off short pieces.

If after 4 months of Nizoral your scalp is still itching you enough for you to be removing pieces of it with your nails then you need to seek a different form of treatment as Nizoral obviously isn't addressing the primary cause.

so if i have a very oily scalp, but don't have any dandruff, no itch, etc.. should i continue using nizoral? or should i find an anti oil shampoo?

the only reason ive been using nizoral is because i would assume sicne i have a very oily scalp that sebum and resdiue is being left on my scalp/clogging my follicles..

hey ryder , i also have a oily skin/scalp , also used nizoral but ofcourse still had a oily scalp even when i used special shampoos for oily scalps .
Now i havent used shampoo or showersoap for a few months ... and to be honest , it feels good .
my hair still gets greasy tho but it doesnt get f***ed up like it used to .
also not using showersoap gave me a less oily skin and it doesnt itch anymore after i shower .

shampoos and soaps basicly just make youre scalp and skin dry and youre skin starts to make more oil , by just using water it doesnt have to make those oils that much .

it took a while before my skin got used to it tho but i dont regret it .

I have this same problem: Very itchy and oily scalp (but hair is often very dry) and when I scratch my scalp I can dig up hunks of dead skin which I am sure is just piled up dandruff mixed with grease

Showering wont remove it because the matter is so greasy and sticky. Sometimes feel like picking up my hair like a rug and sweeping underneath it

Taking Nizoral 2% now, hope it helps reduce the condition.

Typical Anti-dandruff shampoos never do sh*t but I have tried some 'natural' shampoo's (with no actual synthetic ingredients) that were quite effective at stopping the itching and flaking. Too bad such shampoo's are hard to find.

I'm not sure if the balding is caused by this bad skin condition or if the bad skin condition is caused by the balding.

Maybe you should actually stop the Nizoral. That stuff isn't for everyone and made my scalp extremely oily and fried my hair.

I Broke the Mystery of Male Pattern Baldness

The oil in itself is not really bad. It's part of what makes long hair untangle by itself. It's natures magic.

What's bad if it;s left stranded and lodged around the follicles, it's starts to mix with dead skin cells. Over time, it will cause problems. Massage your scalp regularly but not too much to injure it.

male pattern baldness is mutilfactorial. This will help but it's certainly no assurance.

Maxifoot, what time of the day were you taking finasteride? Do you work long hours?
