Hey Guys,

I switched from minoxidil 2% to 5%... It's the second week since I went to #5 and my head was seriously flaking...

I'm using Nizoral 2% 3x a week but yesterday and today I had no choice but to use nizoral back to back to days in a row.

I'm also using this conditioner that I'm supposed to keep on while I sleep but I don't know if it's moiterized and healed or irritated me even more.

I'm using a gentle shampoo and conditioner... low ph and all natural... I'm thinking of switching back to biotin which I used to really like...

Any other ideas?????? What aloe vera should I buy.

Thanks

Also, can the flaking possibly be the result of hair trying to break through my scalp... what do you think

You didn't say how long you'd been on Nizoral, but it can take upwards of 3-5 weeks of continued use to completely control itching and dandruff. Also keep in mind dandruff and flaking from Rogaine is a completely different dandruff than that which is caused by the fungus which Nizoral kills.

do you use t gel as your regular shampoo? does it thicken your hair as well...

Shampoo won't thicken hair. It will add body to it to make it APPEAR thicker...but the only way for hair to thicken up is for the follicle to stop shrinking. And NO amount of shampoo will do that. I had horrible flakes up until the 3 month mark...the Nizoral seemed to have done an awesome job at fixing that problem...along with T/gel.

I know i am digging up an old thread, but i am being good and using the search function...

hopewas-- i got the tgel shampoo and use it every 3 days, and while its improved my dandruff, there is still flaking...I dont use it on back-to-back days, though, and am wondering if thats a safe thing to do or if i will see different results increasing the frequency of usage...

you have to use the t gel at least two days in a row if your dandruff is really bad..most likely because of minoxidil like in my situation. it works for me though. i rub it on for 3 minutes everywhere especially where i have the most dandruff..than i leave it on for 5 minutes and then wash it off. you'll feel the tingling sensation..i sometimes repeat if it was really bad ..it always gets rid of it. but the honest truth is, that as long as you take minoxidil the dandruff will come back again and again. if you weren't on minoxidil, trust me you wouldn't have dandruff. t gel intensive anti flake control is the best dandruff shampoo by far. i se it 3 days in a row. doesn't give me any problems or more hairloss..but i apply minoxidil once a day nowadays after being on it for two years and applying it twice. it's safe.. don't worry. i shampoo my hair 6 times a week. i revolve, t gel, nizoral, and couvre shampoo..sometimes i use thickerfuller hair shampoo. i honestly like couvre shampoo and hair expander even though the bottles seem to come in sample size

I posted a very good research article on dandruff about 4 days ago. Do a search.

In summary, a number of different substances impact dandruff and the more stubborn cases needs several products attacking them at once, such as TGEL, TSAL, Nizoral, etc.

Good luck
