First time posting here. Not sure exactly where to go from here as far as treating my hair loss. I’m currently 21 and I noticed my hairline starting to recede when I was 19. I had never noticed shedding or any hair on my hands in the shower (maybe I wasn’t looking for it).

I started taking finasteride around May of 2018 along with minoxidil liquid at night. I didn’t experience shedding at any time during 2018. There was a period in maybe October of 2018 where I became extremely inconsistent in taking both the finasteride and minoxidil, but by the end of October i was back on both and using everyday. By mid-November, my hair was probably the best it had ever looked. It was much darker and definitely thicker throughout (I hadn't previously been concerned with the density on top). Not much of a change at the hairline, but wasn’t concerned.

However in February of this year I started to notice my hair getting “flatter” with not as much density. I began noticing hair falling out around this time. By March my hairline was thinning out and more of my scalp was showing on top. In April, I started incorporating nizoral 3 times a week and then last month I added minoxidil foam in the morning. Since then I have continued to lose density throughout and at the hairline.

So currently I am on finasteride 1mg, minoxidil am/pm, and nizoral 3x a week. I continue to shed and definitely am spending too much time thinking about my hair loss.

What should I do next? Dermaroller? dutasteride?

I’ve attached some photos of the current situation. Thanks for reading!

*also I plan on getting the hair on the sides cut soon as i haven’t gotten a haircut in a while and it’s definitely accentuating the hair loss!

Your hair density is not too bad but not a flattering cut.

Zero the sides, mid fade, hard part and comb the side. Your part is not styled well.

Let a good barber show you how to style, and get you some good thickening products.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah that picture isn’t actually how I style my hair, just wanted to show the hairline more clearly. This is currently how I’m styling it with a blow dryer and thickening cream. It’s becoming harder and harder with the overall density issues and the specific loss of density at the hair part that you can see in the original post of the hairline.

I would stick to what you are doing and if you want to derma roll then try it. Your hair is not too bad for 21 but if your genetics are aggressive your battle will be more challenging.
