No, I dont think its strong enough to stop male pattern baldness. Maybe the vehicle currently used does not work well enough. It actually doesnt have that much evidence that it works for male pattern baldness although I think there are a few small studies that showed it did

Have both of you guys tried using it?

I have yes, the problem is you buy it premade have no control over the amount of spironolactone in it or the vehicle, plus no studies have proven its effectiveness not even anyone on this forum. If your looking for a more effective topical anti androgen which is more likely to work research RU58841.

What if I was to get like a prescription for Spro at like 5-10% concentation to be made into a cream. Do you think that could have some affect?

Also im very scpetical about RU cuz its not FDA approbed and for all we know could be completly a sham. And you wanna talk about spironolactone being sold to be unreliable, RU is made in someones basement who could have no idea what hes doing. So i think the chance that RU wont work is higher than spironolactone. Do you know anyone who has sustained their hairloss with RU alone?

I'm using the spironolactone cream, I can't really tell if it works or not. But one issue I have with it is the cream takes so long to apply. I stand under the light with mirrors rubbing it in for ages making sure I have everywhere covered. It's so much more inconvenient than a liquid that can be dosed accurately and applied relatively quickly.

Yeah it is inconvenient. But i didnt know liquid form was easier to apply. Maybe try using a finasteride toothed comb and slide your hairs back and gradually apply to each section of the scalp as you comb the hairs forward

Do you believe it works

I've never tried topical Spironolactone, so I can't say anything about it from my experience. There's currently no scientific evidence that it helps to treat Androgenetic Alopecia related problems when used topically. Some people say it works, some say it doesn't, some say they can't tell.

I used topical spironolactone for about 5 years now. It helps a little. Definitely better than finasteride which made me feel like a woman. Less effectiveness than finasteride but no sides.

Got my day and night cream today.

I really hope it helps. I remeber that when I used S5 cream when I was 16 my hairloss progressed very little but 6 moths later I quits and started propecia and 6 moths on propecia my hair has gotten so much worse. It could be that I grew up more and mbp kicked in harder or spironolactone was actually working.

So jealous of the people that can maintain with finasteride

Anyone know the science behind topical spironolactone, if any?

Its a pretty well known anti-androgen if consumed orally. Supposedly it binds to the androgen receptors preventing any real androgen from binding to it. Its pretty commonly used by transsexuals orally during the process of their sex change. Wheter or not it works in topical form to treat hairloss is questionalbe.
