Oral Dutasteride Is Doing Nothing, Other Options?

So was on oral finasteride for a while and it didn’t do much. Continued to lose hair so after 3 years switched to oral dutasteride .5mg daily. Been on it 7 months now and hair is still getting much worse. Think I’m actually doing worse on duta than finasteride. Honestly at this point my hairline is basically gone. Just use a lot of product and concealers and really isn’t enough at all for my hairline. Also my nape area is destroyed which didn’t start until this last year. And overall density is sh*t. Is there anything out there I can throw in to get some regrowth? Or am I pretty much screwed honestly? And my derm said I’m not a candidate for a hair transplant because I’m not responding to finasteride or duta. When I first started this sh*t he said I’d keep everything I had and would be a great candidate for a hair transplant and no one would even be able to tell I lost any hair. No sides either tho. So idk if this stuff is doing anything. And my stuff is legit I get a script from Walgreens.

Can you provide pics of your hair? It would be best if you have before treatment and current pics for a proper comparison.

If Dutasteride isn’t working then it’s likely that your hairloss could be thyroid, stress, vitamin deficiency, or something else. Dutasteride will cure hairloss that’s due to hormones, but there’s lots of other causes.

I'm pretty sure @dralex's derm was competent enough to not misdiagnose Androgenetic Alopecia as thyroid related hair loss as it looks nothing like Androgenetic Alopecia patterned hair loss as can be seen from an actual case documented in NEJM.

It doesn't even look like the hairs miniaturise in this disorder.

I don't think their is any evidence to suggest that stress will cause anything other than Telogen Effluvium in periods of prolonged stress, again this would not be patterned.

If a vitamin deficiency has gotten so bad that you start to have hair loss you are going to be experiencing a whole host of other debilitating diseases that would be hard not to notice.

Androgenetic Alopecia is the cause of hair loss in 99% of cases.

I don’t disagree, however, given that Dutasteride inhibits 99% of 5AR2 it’s likely then that his Dutasterife is fake, damaged, or he’s one of the 1% that don’t respond.

I’ve yet to see someone on here lose ground on Dutasteride with pics
