Hello everyone,

i am french, i have registered here because french forum doesn't speak much about this, actually there are 3 forums but i don't know, people read and never reply...

I am sorry if my english is not perfect but i will try my best

So i still have hair at the top of my head, my biggest problem was my forehead, it was going bigger and bigger, i looked like sh*t and my girlfriend always asked me to keep my cap on for pictures etc... 8 months ago this girl left me... i was very sad and then i started to look for another girlfriend and i decided to start to wear a hair piece...

i went to an institute (very expensive, i'm gonna buy on internet now) that shaved all the top of my hair and put a system called "micro skin" (i guess in english) i think it's polyurethane, i looked really good with that and women started to look at me again...

this is the good point, but the bad is, the woman of the institute told me i have come back to take it off, clean it etc every month...

so now it has been 2 months now and i took off my hair piece system two times, and i feel that i'm loosing ALL my real hair with that system.

the top of my head was ok before and now i feel it's getting bald too, i don't know if it's because it's shaved or not... maybe it's just my imagination. i have also noticed small hairs are going back too, maybe lots of hair are growing slower because of the system but they are not gone, i don't know.

but anyway if we think about it, i don't think it's healthy to let something like that on the head for a month... but now i can't stop it, i look alot better like this...

my question is, is there anyone that wear the same kind of piece ? Have you noticed your real hair are going away faster ?

Thank you for your reply and sorry again for my english, i hope you understood me !!

I'm sorry to hear about your broken relationship, although I feel that in a year from now you will look on it as a blessing in disguise.

I had a hairpiece like yours when I first started wearing, also from an "institute". I only wore it for about 6 months before switching to Internet-bought units. In my experience keeping a hairpiece in place, particularly a piece with a plastic base, for a month at a time is not very hygienic BUT in my experience it did not damage my remaining hair. I still have a tuft of hair at the front of my head which has been in the dark underneath my hairpiece now for over 4 years, gets shaved every week, has glue, tape and alcohol put on it regularly, but it is still growing as strong as ever. You may simply be noticing the progression in your natural hairloss, which appears more dramatic because you only see it once a month.

Despite that assurance, I strongly recommend that you move on from the institute to buying and maintaining your own hairpiece, preferably every 7 - 10 days. You will save a fortune, and you will have a better looking hairpiece and a healthier scalp. Feel free to ask for help here if you decide to make that transition.

Good luck
Noah

So are you still hoping to save the hair on your head then? I guess I kind of think of pieces as being for people past the point of return with their actual hair.

This, if you still have decent hair on top and just a receding hairline then you should use finasteride, minoxidil and maybe a hair transplant before you get a hair system

thank you for your replies !

Well my ex girlfriend was so young, i'm 29 and she was 20, she will get a guy with lots of hair, it's what she likes xD

I don't know how far is gonna be my hair loss so i just don't want to make it worse (for exemple if one day i want to do hair transplant but i don't think i'm gonna do it, sometimes the result are really bad) for the finasteride, really i think i prefere to be bald than using this, i'm scared of it (can cause erection problem, damn xD.)

Noah, my hairloss is very slow because i loose them since i'm 18 and i'm 29 now, but i think it could be my imagination because now i see my head shaved and before they were longer, so when i take of my hairpiece i can see small hair that are growing and it looks less as before, it's a possibility ! anyway i'm happy to know that for you it didn't affect your hair, it means maybe i'm just crazy lol

i'm gonna get a hairpiece on internet for sure, the biggest problem will be to find someone that can cut the hairpiece at my size and then cut my hair, because "good" institute don't accept to work with a hairpieces that are not from them...

yesterday i went to another institute, cheaper and i asked them just to put my micro skin on my head, i didn't want to do it alone, and DAMN, so so bad, the woman didn't know anything about hairpiece, she put the glue like a kid, i was shock, for my next hairpiece, i need to find someone experienced for that, it will be the most difficult !

Yeah, unfortunately most of the people who work at these "institutes" are basically women's hair stylists who have done a half-day course on "toupees". They have very little empathy with a young guy who is losing his hair and his looks, and often not much technical ability to make the hairpieces look appropriate and good. Some exceptions of course. But you quickly realise when you start wearing on a DIY basis that there is more genuine expertise amongst actual wearers on a board like this than in these salons. Nobody cares about your look as much as you do.

Spot on.

First cut in I got was with a clueless women who couldbt even fit a piece on let alone knew anything about baldness.

This is so real. Left me devestated on my first cut in

She flopped it on my head. Didn't even thin the piece properly. The tape attchetment had creases all over. It wasn't even flush with my skin. She told me and insisted that it was fine. I drove back 4 half hours devestated. Searching google on methods.
