People who don't go bald with hairloss in their family

Do you know anyone who has hairloss on one or both sides of their family but held onto their hair? I'm pretty interested in the genetics of hairloss and how many people avoid the gene despite their family history.
I know there are people with aggressive hairloss in their family but they don't start losing until later in life. I also know of people who have no hairloss anywhere in their family but lose it all at a young age. Hair loss is really unpredictable, so I'm hoping to collect as much information as I can.
Do you have any friends/family members who avoided going bald despite having it on one or both sides of their family?

If EVERYONE has good hair then it is unlikely that someone will go bald.

Generally, balding people have balding relatives SOMEWHERE in their family tree, it just might not have shown up for a little bit.

My uncle has a full head of hair and is 55 or so, he's receded a little but not a whole lot. Of his two sons, one is 31 and has a perfect NW1. The other is probably NW2.5-3 diffuse and he and I are both on finateride nowadays and have talked about hairloss.

Those are the cases I find interesting. I often hear that if one close relative has it you have very little hope of escaping it, and I've also heard that if one brother has it the other one will follow in their footsteps.
I have a good friend with a father who has been a NW6 since I've known him, so I'm assuming he started losing his hair pretty young. My friend has hair just like him but hasn't lost a single hair off his head.

According to a friend all of his male relatives, either side of the family are bald.

His father side is special, all started to bald severely at ages 18-20.
He has three brothers and I think two sisters.
His older brother,maybe in his middle thirties, is an NW6, started balding young like his father side. His youngest brother, around 24-25 was an NW4 the last time I saw him two years ago.

He is 29 right now and no sign of hairloss in the horizon, he has one of those ridiculous hairlines that people describe as NW0, very little forehead and the sides invaded by hair.

He lives petrified about hairloss, knows everything about it, always comments about other people's baldness and claims he can spot hairpieces. He always pointed at my hairloss even when at times when I didn't gave a damn about it.

That's one side.

My father was the only male from four brothers that went bald. But he started in his forties and still has a lot of hair for his age today. According to my mom, he never knew anyone from my father's family that was bald

Yeah. Honestly, there's no way to know. If you see a family where baldness is rampant, it's probably a very dominant male gene. However if its all sorts of varying then there probably is no strong "bald" gene making it into every male. My family on both sides has all sorts of different hair loss, from NW1's to NW6, though the Nw6 is 65 years old and still has some hair, but very little.

The guy in Bigentries post sounds a lot like me. I haven't started to bald yet but I'm almost positive I will. My paternal grandfather was a NW6 pretty young, and so were my dad and both of his brothers. My dad's sister has 2 sons (their father has a thick NW1) and they both started losing their hair in their 20's.
My mother's side is a bit better, the only person who went bald was my uncle but he didn't start until he was in his mid 40's. Everyone else has an abundance of hair.

I'm praying my dad's hairloss won't triumph over the genes my mom gave me. I would be fine with going bald in my 40's, that's another 20 years I get to hold on to my hair.

Same here man. It's probably inevetible that my hairline will mature, but I'm okay with that..

I'm in the same boat.

No sign of male pattern baldness YET. (20 years old, maybe a little high forhead but I had that al my life but very very thick dark long curly hair.)

BUT:

My dad went bald since he was 21/22
His brother since he was 32
Their dad (my grandfather): died with an NW2 at the age of 76.

My mum's dad started balding when he was at his late 20's early 30's.

I'm praying for the same patern as my dad's dad but that chance is very small :sobbing:

i am in NW3~4(age 24) and my brother in NW6~7(age 29)but recovering very well to NW5~4.

mother side : my grandpa NW2 died.one uncle he is NW6.

father side : my grandpa was NW0 died.his brother was still at NW3 at age of
60.my father is still in NW3 at age of 58 with lots of hair growing
up to the way to NW2 again(i dont know how)
