Say we block 50% of 5ar enzyme, that still leaves 50% to produce DHT. If our free testosterone increases a fair amount, does that mean our DHT levels will also rise correspondingly in proportion? Does it scale in proportion?

Or does it work like this, when u take x mg of finasteride u decrease 70% of DHT?

5AR inhibition and DHT don't scale proportionately. For example 5mg of finasteride inhibits only around 1-2%(although other sources I've read put it at almost 6-8%) more DHT compared to 1mg, but it probably inhibits a lot more of the enzyme itself. Here's a couple images that might help:

As you can see in the Japanese finasteride study, 0.2mg was nearly equivalent to 1mg in hair count.
