Do you think that it's possible it might stop here..or will continue - propecia seems like it's for the top of the head not the hairline...any suggestions ..he is taking 5 mg of biotin..and he ran out of revivogen oil - still has nizoral shampoo- would nano help..?? Thank you all for your replies. this is a graet site with a lot of good information -

There is no such thing as a treatment that's just for the top of the head and not the hairline. These fda approved treatments were just officially tested on the top of the head, so they can't legally claim effectiveness for the hairline. But the hairline is a bit harder to treat.

my hairline was the same at 18, and has now progressed to the next stage (3 years later). i would recommend analyzing the hairs around the hairline, are they thinner than the other hair? if it appears the hair is still receeding, consider treatment options.

It is definetly possible to stop there, but I don´t consider this to be very likely. I recently saw wedding pictures of my grandfather for instance when he was 31 years old. He already was a Norwood 3 back then and now at the age of 84 he has still exactly the same hairline. But he is definetly an exception.

A 2 on the Norwood-Hamilton scale. Not that bad yet, since he wouldn´t be considered "bald" by most people (only by those who are balding themselves) but to stay like that he should take action soon and start treatment.

Holding at stage 2

Well - if the data says finasteride works for 7 years- then what
Also is your routine keeping you from progressing further - or holding you at bay -or growing new hair-?

What routine would you suggest for him- a second semester senior in Highschool ?

Thanks-

Klee

Hey Klee,

I don´t know why so many people say that finasteride suddenly stops working after 7 years. For some it doesn´t work at all others see a complete stop of their hair loss for the rest of their lifes.

Treating hair loss takes time and one has to be patient. I am 6 months into treatment but haven´t seen any stopping of my hairloss, yet. I am praying that I am just a late responder.....

I am no doctor and no expert when it comes to hairloss treatments. You should see a dermatologist before you get on treament.

My personal advice though would be a regimen consisting of 1mg of Finasteride ED, Nizoral shampoo twice a week and some dietary supplements such as Biotin, Silica or Zinc.

Good Luck to your son!

you can't really say this when finasteride has only been out for 10 years. it will slow the hair loss down dramatically for most people but it's still continuing. people may only get to nw3 late in their lives where they normally would have gotten to nw6, but that's still a continuation of the balding process, albeit slowly.

Thats a painful thing to realize.

I do believe women have DHT in their heads too. Maybe there is a certain tolerance level of DHT your hairs can handle. Low doses that do not sufficate the follicle or get trapped in it, but just pass through the bloodstream.

I thought this nightmere would end but I am already regreting getting on the big 3. I should have gone after some Dutastride instead. Its more powerful. I already have a years supply of proscar so I might as well switch next year.

f***...... looks like I may be in for a hair transplant when I'm in my 30s.
