First, I know that’s bad news.

I have a very itchy scalp for the past couple of days, maybe weeks and I’m losing my hair really fast. When I scratch an itchy area something like this comes out:

You can see two hair in that white “bulb”. One is obviously almost dead. Seeing this is killing me.

Please help, any idea is welcomed. I tried Regenepure (keto 1%) and some things @Somebody is proposing ( egg white mask, perilla capsules ) and nothing really helps.

Edit: Oops, typo in the title, don’t know how to change it.

Edit2: added the second picture.

Have you changed anything in your routine? Did the Keto help at all, how many times did you use it? Are you still taking finasteride/Dua and for how long?

Yeah I started duta 5 months ago. I’m still on finasteride for about 7-8 years now.

It was all good until last summer when I started my no-shampoo experiment. I have very oily scalp ( funny enough my hair is very dry ) so I give it a try for about 4-5 months. Before that experiment there was not a lot of itch or inflammation. For majority of the days there was none. So long story short, I washed my hair 4-5 times with shampoo in almost half a year. It did help a _little bit_ with my oily scalp, but my itch came back and Inflammation just started again.

This pictures was actually made when I didn’t wash my hair for 3 days and my scalp was oily as f***.

I don’t know for sure but probably because my scalp was swimming in sebum due to my noshampoo experiment, I did somehow trigger my hairloss into the next gear. There is not a lot of information on the web about that. Then I started duta and it all went downhill. Duta is not helping at all. I’m starting to believe it’s something else than DHT.

I need to mention that I always had a very oily scalp even as a kid.

You are deficient in vitamin A. Simply google its relation with sebum production in the body. This is basically the first step down the rabbit hole once you realize DHT blockers aren't winning you any battles.

Well there is always a cortisone option

By the way there is also Salicylic acid... But dont go any stronger then 5%! And it must be clean and alcohol based. I use between 2-4 % (Foligan shampoo contain 1%)

I’ve just tried T/Gel Forte for the first time today which does have salicylic acid in it as the active ingredient but itch is bad tbh. It’s worse than when I use my regular shampoo. But it’s different kind of itch. Hard to explain. Will use it for a couple a week and will see how it does. How do you use it @Somebody? In a form of liquid, shampoo, serum...?

I have the same thing. Happened four years ago and it’s what killed ALL of my hair. My hairline is totally destroyed and I’m diffuse when my hair was awesome before. Had random burning pains, stabbing pains, stinging, itching etc.. and I’ve been in an insane shed sever since with those plugs.

I’ve tried seti from the private forum, finasteride, min, keto shampoo, doxycycline high dose and submicrobial dosage, kenalog injections, prp, sulfa and I’ve been on dutasteride now for 2.5 years at 2.5mg with times of trying 5-10mg. Nothing at all has helped.

I’m seeing yet another derm because my hair has gotten way worse these past two months and I’m requesting either cyclosporine or itraconazole since most say I have seborrheic dermatitis. I’ll report back if I get anywhere too

Please do. Hard to hear all that. Yeah for me dutasteride even made things worse but I don’t know, probably it’s just hair loss progressing. I also need to confirm that one year ago there was no itch and almost no signs of hairloss. But then when it all started again, things just went downhill very fast and right now I don’t know how to stop it.

I use it two ways. One way and most safe is by shampoo like Foligain SR it cotain 1%. Other way is by applying liquid alcohol based solution. Its 3-4% salic acid and rest is alchol nothing else. It stings a litle bit but then its okey. Salic acid I use is clean and dont contain anything else. I have seen in pharmacy they sale salic acid in mix with cortisone, etc but I prepare clean version. Inflammation is very tricky and you need to try different methods. If you are able to solve inflammation part you will get regrow... so its woth to use efferts finding what works in your case. Good luck

Have the same thing, though I have it also on my eyebrows and mustache. So I don't think it has a relation to balding. It's just something internal I guess. My shed hasn't increased since I have it and still have a full head of hair. Planning on going to my doctor, just have to find the time to go.

Read a few comments of guys in their late 30's who have had it for 15 years or so and still have a full head of hair, so I don't think this causes baldness, many women have this issue too. People reporting balding have male pattern baldness or diffuse thinning at the same time (coincidentally)

Has anyone had success using apple cider vinegar for seborrheic dermatitis?

I know I have mentioned this on a previous post here but Pumpkin Seed Oil sorted my itch out and helped scalp in general.

A lot of people on here seem to bash supplements but I tried a bunch of pharmaceutical remedies for the itching- steroid sprays like topicort and even stronger ones than that.
Everyones body is different and if a supplement seems to work then it works.

I did some research and the key ingredient seems to be Delta 7 Sterol which seems to address the scalp - and bizzarely enough its an Androgen that competes with DHT at the receptor!

My scalp is doing pretty well lately... I’m really hoping the longer I’m on propecia the better things get. Right now I have a mild soreness a couple of time per hour and some tingling a few hours follow rogaine. It’s honestly HEAVEN compared to my previous itch. I dreamed about having my scalp feel like it does now

@itsjustsimon : some good news ?

Yeah as I said in another thread, it seems that my hairloss is stabilizing, no regrowth but no itch anymore, so I guess my inflammation problem is getting better.

Will see, still hoping for some regrowth, but I have a feeling that my shed was the actual hair loss and I’ll have to accept my current state in the future.

How are you doing guys? Any good news?

@itsjustsimon : Ok thanks. Maybe it's time to use minoxidil ? already ?
No good news. Cypro 50mg, + estradiol 4mg, + 2mg estrogel ... : more hair loss, more itchy scalp.
Crazy :p
I hope regrowth for you, it's the best.

Will wait for a couple of months to see what duta can do.

Wow, strong regimen. You’re still on duta? Do you have more sides on 2mg duta than on 4mg estradiol?
