Hey, my name is Zach and im a 20 year old university student living in New York City. I started noticing my hair was thinning a few months ago, then at the beginning of this summer it began to fall out, and quickly. also my individual hairs are a lot thinner and look a lot less healthy. when dry my hair looks fine, only to a very critical eye (mainly my own) can i notice anything and all i can notice is thinner individual strands, however when wet i have begun to see more and more of my scalp, which is freakin me out. I have been very depressed for the last two years, but this summer have been going to therapy and have been feeling so much better. im starting to get my self confidence back, and my sex drive, slowely but surely. (I havent been w/ a girl in 2 years, which SUCKS by the way, hehe) anyway back to the important stuff. The therapy has been stressful and so have the last few years and i was wondering what, if any effect that may have on hair health and or loss, and if the lack of sex may have had an effect. I have just started working out again and three days ago began taking propecia. i eat very well, and before my depression i was an exceptional athlete. I was wondering if anyone has any comments on stress/depression/lack of sex and their effects on hairloss and any suggestions. also if anyone has taken propecia any comments on it would be nice, like how long it took b4 they stopped seeing hair falling out. thanks a lot. both my father and my mothers father are bald so i know im gonna be bald too, i just would like keep my hair through my twenties at the least, ya know.

Lots of stress and depression can result in hairloss which effects all scalp not only in specific area. It can reverse when the reason removes. But male pattern baldness differs from that. It is thought caused by DHT(a male hormone), and often effects the hair in vertex or hairline at first. It usually treats by Propecia(finasteride). So I think you should lower your stress and depression as much as you can. Then be patient. Hair Growth usually needs six months to see apparent result.
Good luck!!!

Agreed. Too much stress and depression will NOT work wonders for your hairgain but will contribute to your hairloss. It sure sounds like you've got a good handle on your life and are moving forward! Hey, that's awesome! Worry is actually very counterproductive as it creates more problems. Just be concerned about today, plan for tomorrow sure, but be concerned only for today :p

I realy feel for you and know what it feels like myself. Find a GP that is sympathetic to your needs and ask him for regain and his advice for your anxiety.
