Hello, this is my first post here.
I am 23, Male, loosing hair from last 10 months . I am loosing it all over the head even sides and back (at the base of the neck). I visited a dermatologist 3 months back, she did some tests and told my testosterone is High (859 ng/L) normal high range is 827 ng/mL. She mentioned that the reason for hair loss. I am not completely satisfied with what she said.
I went to different doctor recently, by this time I lost so much hair and my frontal scalp is see thru if I don’t comb properly, who did further tests and my Ferritin levels are pretty low (12 ng/mL). He said Ferritin should be al least 70 ng/mL for hair growth. And he said that could be the reason which is not common in men.
My Free testosterone is also normal high (26.5 pg/mL) and my Total testosterone is 677 ng/mL this time. These tests were taken during 4pm and I suspect my free testosterone will be much high than it came. I started on Ferrous sulfate tablets 325 mg twice a day and also Rogaine (twice a day). I am on Rogaine from 3 weeks. I can still see shedding mainly when I comb right after applying Rogaine all over my head. I see less hair now on my pillow and when I wash my hair. I am not sure whether it is working or not.
Did any have situation like this before. I even loosing hair at sides and back which is not associated with male pattern baldness? My maternal uncle is the only one bald in my family. My dad was around Norwood 2-3 and he is 53. I think he started loosing around 40-45. I am probably at around Norwood 2. Please advice what should I do? Can anyone tell if there is any good doctor in Denver area who can further evaluate my case? This is really frustrating me. Thanks in advance.
