Please help! I'm losing hair at a ridiculous speed, basically lost 50% of my hair in the last 4 months.

Long story short: I started taking minoxidil in April for a month but had to stop due to side effects (chest pain). A month later I started with Adenosine, Stemox and Nizoral. I should also mention that I tried several different treatments against my Seborrheic dermatitis (including Cortisone) in between. My scalp at that time was extremely red and covered with flakes.

My hairloss before taking minoxidil was moderate, it was getting worse but quite slowly compared to what is happening now. After I stopped minoxidil my hair started to thin out at a speed where actually my hair looked worse every week and went from Norwood 2-3 to Norwood 4.

I went from a guy who is losing his hair to an almost bald one in a few months!

I'm so desperate at this point I really need your advice. What happened there? Was it the genetics kicking in or was it a shedding? Was it too many different treatments at once? Do you think my hair will ever get better again? Should I continue with my current treatment although my hair is just getting worse and worse?

Also, I do see some little blonde hairs growing in my temples, but I'm not sure if this could be new hair growing or just miniaturized hair? :/

PLEASE HELP!

Hair loss at that speed........I'd go see your doctor. Maybe get some blood work done to see if it could be another factor.

Thanks a lot for your advice so far! I do suspect the Seborrheic dermatitis as well to be responsible for at least some shedding... The reason why I started with several treatments at one time was to maximize my chances and because I was so desperate to stop my hairloss :(
Is Telogen effluvium different from "normal" shedding due to medication such as minoxidil? And is it reversible? If yes, how long does it take to recover?
Sorry for asking so many questions at once! :/

How is your situation now?

It has sort of stabilized I'd say... I did lose tons of hair between June and August... I'd say since September it hasn't gotten much worse. The density looks the same to me (I made photos to compare). Thats the good news... Bad news is, my hair hasn't returned to where it was before Minoxidil, I still can't really see any regrowth coming along. I read in several threads tho, that it can take up to a year to regrow your hair because of the hair cycles....

Join the club!

I'm shedding at a ridiculous rate and my hairline has evidently receded with two months . It's like every morning I look in the mirror it's thinned out even more !

Never knew male pattern baldness could be this aggressive and at such a fast pace !!!

Sounds exactly like what happened to me! In 2 months i lost 40-50% of the density I had before. If I look at photos before the minoxidil shed, it looks like the hair of a totally different person! Of course i was balding before (thats why I even got on Rogaine obviously), but not at that speed! My hairloss was rather slow I'd say. After taking Rogaine I was almost bald...

Are you still taking Rogaine? Are you on any other treatment atm? I am using Adenogen and Fructis Stemox now (also Nizoral sometimes) and at least it seems to slow down the hair loss..

Anyone who is truly seeing dramatic hair loss, especially if their scalp is "extremely red" needs to see a doctor.
