Ok Im new to this site and kind of late to starting my treatment...reason? I had mixed opinions about the BIG 3 and didnt start loosing self confidence till now(turned 30 last month) I guess.

Please help me answer my questions based on my hair loss(pics attached)

1. is there a natural form of finasteride? Im worried about the sexual side effects part

2. what shampoo do you recommend?

3. Down the road when i HOPE to have money to afford surgery(if i need it), who are the industry best/reasonable?

4. Can anyone tell me my immediate action items I should do looking at my head?

thanks!

Get on the big3. This looks pretty bad. You can try Saw Palmetto but it's not proven to work so you are ristking wasting your time and a chance for getting more hair back with finasteride. finasteride + nizoral.

Try it. Maybe it will work for you.

Please enlighten me: what is the difference between a natural molecule and a synthesized molecule?

Probably nothing but with this new wave of "going green" and organically derived trend- i figured there might be a to look at this from a different perspective.

Personally id prefer a topical route rather than oral prescription.

Thanks for all your responses-- any additional info helps!

Strong topical anti DHT will cause side effects too if you're prone to them. They are also more difficult to apply. A topical route without lowering DHT level is pointless.

Usually it's recommended to just start on Finasteride and wait a year and assess effectiveness before starting on minoxidil, but you seem to have advanced pretty far into the process and would benefit from minoxidil right now.

Contrary to what you probably keep hearing, it is quite rare to experience side effects on Finasteride. Almost all 'healthy' people (active lifestyle, no drugs / alcohol or smoking) tolerate finasteride without side effects. I think people with less than ideal health with questionable sexual performance and such are the ones that will experience side effects.

As for shampoo, I don't think anything will help. Nizoral may work well in conjunction with Finasteride/minoxidil, but alone it won't do anything.

Good luck, and be sure to post pictures after you have been on your regimen for a while. I have seen people with your stage of hair loss recover to a NW2 or even NW1.

Norwood 1 is normally the hairline your born with till you reach adulthood. From there on usually between the age of 18-30 most men will regress to a norwood 2. This is not actually balding but a mature hairline which happens to around 90% of men. Anything above that norwood is usually considered balding. For the record you look like a diffuse norwood 2 which will eventually put you straight to norwood 6 if nothing is done. I'd say you were a norwood 5 but you still have a strong hairline which is stopping your hairloss from falling into that pattern.

You still have a chance of reversing your hairloss with the right treatment. Most people opt for the big 3. Furthermore you could improve your appearance with topik hair concealer, which gives the illusion of you having a fuller head of hair. I'd give them shot.

Feint80, check My Regimen, I'd suggest the Big 3 also. I started my treatment last March, Rogaine liquid, nizoral shampoo and as well as Dutas helped me recover from NW5 to NW3 diffused. Mind you, I am only 28, so these results could significantly differ from person to person, however the big 3 will at least give you a good fighting chance, no doubt about it. Perhaps, seek professional/medical guidance also? Good luck with your endeavors!

Get on Propecia ( get generic Proscar and cut it up as it's MUCH cheaper) Rogaine Foam (use it all over your head as I have had regrowth everywhere) at 2 bottle per month ASAP

You can get 2% nizoral woithout a prescription at westcoastskin.com. Use it 3 times per week and leave it on for about 5 minutes.

Any old shampoo is going to be fine, I guess you could try the head and shoulders thickening or Jason's thin to thick (may not be the exact name as I have never used it) shampoo but any growth you get will be form the big 3

Take photos every month and see how you look in a year then you could CONSIDER a hair transplant as your crown would eat up way too many grafts right now IMO

Man I aint being a dick but there is nothing going to grow your hair back to anywhere near what I would consider somewhat normal. Hell I feel like a dick posting my pics and im 36. I would clipper my head with a number 2 or 1 and leave it be. I normally clippered my head before I lost hair. I know this look is not good for everyone but its better than what u got. I have a giant scar on my head 9inches long strait down the middle. it is the only thing keeping me from buzzing my head. let it go. If you could take a pill or a cream at your point it would be amazing. just saying

Budwardo: so be it....i my regrow Shi* or nothing back but the point of a forum, community and discussion is TO TRY educate and learn on how to tackle an issue. There are pics, success stories and routines that have clearly shown it CAN be done.

Dont worry you're not a dick, maybe unaware ?

I would LOVE to see those photos

Take a look through all the success stories both on this forum and at hairlosshelp. It's fairly rare to get these results, but it does happen!

But yeah, I think everyone can benefit from the big 3, regardless of the amount of hair loss experienced. As long as it isn't a huge financial burden, and you have no big expectations, it really doesn't hurt to try it. Even if all you do is keep the hair you have now, that is always a good thing. I think there are some good treatments on the horizon and traditionally speaking, the more hair you have, the better the treatments will work.

I think also, if you are taking finasteride, your hair folicles will have a better chance of 'coming back' with new treatments.

So as long as you aren't taking a second mortgage out to pay for your treatments, it doesnt hurt to try the big 3. Take monthly pictures and be sure to post them!

I have been on hair loss help , here and the HTN for over 5 years and I have NEVER seen anyone take a slick bald spot the size of his and fill it in, never.

I'm not doubting you, I have just never seen it so if you have a link I would love to see it.

Yeah I don't think results like GeminiX's are really applicable here
