Hi all, i am 32 years old and my hair first began to thin at the age of 19. The thinning has been slow (i guess) but constant through the years. I used to use Revivogen shampoo but i don't think it did any good. I was wondering if anyone could help me. I want to try a last ditch attempt at doing something about this but i am unsure of the best course of treatment. I have tried to read up on this site through forum posts and the treatment sections but now i am more confused as to which product/s to take for my hairloss. Everyone seems to have a different opinion on the matter so it's hard to judge what is right for myself. It's making me go crazy

I have taken some photos to show you. Nothing out of the ordinary - just a young guy balding but i am confused as to if i have diffuse thinning or male pattern baldness, if so what is the best course of treatment.

its hard to tell from the photos but it does look like male pattern baldness because the hairline has receeded a bit but because you have been losin your hair since 19 and still have most of it you might be a diffuse thinner ,i would still towards male pattern baldness however. you should defo go to see a hair transplant surgeon or doctor to know which one you are. anyway i would suggest going on the big 3 :

Finesteride (proscar /propecia tablets) if proscar only 1/4 of a tablet
minoxidil (rogaine 5% foam)
nizoral 2% shampoo

these are all FDA approved to help hairloss. personally dont believe in other remedies and no scientific studies have ever proved that any herbs etc have ever actually worked. you should look at the at the 'success stories' section on this forum it shows pics of people with great results who had less hair than you so wouldnt be overly worried just yet ,you still have most your hair and if you get good results from the big 3 you should be able to keep it if not regrow more

It can be confusing MPBisnogood, b/c we do all have different opinions. The big 3 have proven to work, there are however those of us who will not compromise our hormones for hair (finasteride & minoxidil) But they can in about 60% of the cases stop hairloss and grow hair. nizoral is a great shampoo, unless it irritates your scalp, which is even less, I'd say 5-10%. And then there is always hair transplant. being 32 and just judging from those two pics, I think you would be the perfect candidate for hair transplant. If hair transplant is a consideration, talk to a specailist by all means. There are a few on this board who work for A+ clinics and would be glad to help.

Hello and thanks for your replies.

Can i ask what hair transplant is? Is this a hair specialist clinic? If so i think you may have convinced me to go and see one. I guess i have nothing to lose.

Also is male pattern baldness and diffuse thinning 2 completely different causes of hairloss?

male pattern baldness comes in all shapes and forms, in case you don't know, it means male pattern baldness, which includes diffuse thinning.

A hair transplant clinic is a Hair Transplant clinic, I think for now you may be better off trying propecia and rogaine to see if your hair improves, do some research on these treatments.
