Recently I started to pay attention to my hair and I'm scared as hell that I'm balding. I want to emphasise that in last 4 months I was undergoing a lot of stress due to my family member illness, and also I have a very poor diet based on energy drinks and fast foods. My father is practically bald at 51, but my grandfather from mother's side have his hair at his 70s.

I'm very worried about receding hairline but also about those thinning spaces on sides. Today I woke up and saw those two white circles on both of my sides.

Rest photos are after shower when my hair are wet or under the flashlight. Should I start to take finasteride and minoxidil right now? I'm already desperate.

That last but one photo is from more than year ago, so it seems I always had those empty spaces between sides and tops when my hair are stylized upside.

Jesus f*****g christ.

I'm adding to more pictures of my hair (dry) when I was 14.

It seems I already had some kind of empty spaces between side and top of my hair but back then I had short hair and it wasn't that visible.

On second picture there's also a little thinning on the top and I have similiar now.

Stress and poor diet does not cause permanent baldness. All the hair that you lost will grow back once you fix those problems.

I have the worst outcome imaginably. Both of my intermediate cousins (22yrs) have NW0, and their fathers are slick f*****g bald in there early 40's! My father is NW3 at 42 yrs old, and I'm displaying signs of it being worse than his. I'm a NW2 with diffuse thinning; crown perfectly fine though.

f*** man thats the absolute worse feeling. Are those cousins on your mothers side or fathers side?

I thought you just had a little recession, didnt know you were diffused too.

One is on my mother side, the other is father side. They're my closest cousins; same age range. I do however, have fine textured curly hair so my thinning could be traditional male pattern baldness; just exaggerated. I don't have side thinning at all. Only hairline/ temples. Middle portion looked to have thinned recently. However, I wonder if thats due to me applying minoxidil to my face; leaving it own overnight. I could be scratching my face, then rubbing my hair. Do you feel thats possible?

He was 30 I think. Now he's not completely bald, he has some hair on the back and sides.

Goddamn, am I really Norwood 2.5? I can't believe it's that bad, I still have some hair on my head, I'm adding some another photos taken few minutes ago how it looks.

The strangest thing is that I can't see difference between photos taken years ago and now. I mean, maybe I only have a large forehead and it's actually not receding? As I uploaded few posts ago, when I was 14 I already had a kind of empty / receded space between forelock and side hair.

Also do remember that those photos from the first post are taken under bright light + flash from the phone + wet hair. I read in some place that it's normal to see some scalp like that.

I know I'm kinda cringy with all that rationalization, but I'm really worried. Maybe those white bald places on my backs are actually effect of stress and my poor diet and laying in room for the last 4 months. I hope so.

So is it really that bad? Should I already use finasteride and minoxidil? I decided to visit dermatologist.

The hair styling is masking; get a hair band; you're diffusing based on earlier pictures.

don't listen to everyone here panicking.. i was at your stage at your age (21-22) and now 25 turning 26 soon and nowhere bald at all..

i'll be probably norwood 3-4 in couple of years but i'll late 20's by then. So you at 21 only have still couple of years to turn the situation the other way ! you still have a pretty awesome head of hair.

People here would say ''you will be norwood 2.5-3 next year'' at the slightest sign of hair line thinning

Thanks mate, it's very uplifting.

@Phone Charger - i'll try to to it later and post it.

I found another photo of me when I was 16, so it was 5 years ago. I had short hair back then and it seems that thinning was also visible back then, and that receded temple also. Is it possible I was simply born with it?

If I were you I wouldnt be worried right now. Keep an eye on it but I dont think you are gonna be bald anytime soon. Do you see thinning beyond the hairline on the top?
