For 5 years I have slowly but steadily lost hair. I'm lost some density on top and a little around the temples. I want to know if finasteride will help me grow more back and also and accurate answer as to where I'm at on the norwood scale. Pictures are below.

norwood 1 I would say because that scale doesnt account for diffuse thinning.

From the temple corners I would say about 1.5 bro.
It just bothers me what I've read on diffuse thinning it could be cause by other factors besides male pattern baldness. I'm about to be going to the dermatologist this month to be prescribed finasteride most likely, and I just don't want to take it if that's not the problem with me. What's weird is that I started losing my hair at 19. 4 years After that other problems started to arise like low interest in sex, breathing issues, wounds that all turned to scars and a few other symptoms but those are the main ones. Do you think that those physically symptoms could coincide with me losing hair or the fact I was losing hair first means its male pattern baldness? Also should I get blood work before starting finasteride due to this? BTW my dad is particularly bald. I don't think he will ever be completely bald but he has like a few hairs on the front of his head then a huge bald spot then the hair on the back of his head. Thank you to anyone who can answer these concerning questions.

I think you're alright man... maybe you have thin hair, which doesn't mean you're balding. Some people just have more strands than others. Your right temple maybe looks a bit suspect but you've only shown 1 picture with your hair pulled back so it's hard to tell.

Damn, that's some nice hair, if your loss is pretty slow zix might help.
Its really hard to tell because I kind of comb it to the side but if I was to put my hair straight down you could definitely tell. I have lost a lot of hair since I was in high school its mostly losing density right behind the front of my hairline. By the way what is zix?
It looks somewhat similar to mine. I don’t know what norwood it is, but your hair looks fine. PLEASE get on finasteride like I did. It helps with some of the anxiety to know that you’re doing the best you can to prevent or slow down any loss. If you want to know anything about that, feel free to ask!
