Very curious about the effectiveness of this stuff as I hear very mixed attitudes to it. Feel free to write what concentration, quantity, source etc of spironolactone you used in the thread itself :)

I've ordered some through this site, taking ages to get here though, I'll vote after a few months of use. Will be taking minoxidil at the same time so it will be hard to tell.

I am a little over one week on spironolactone 2%(easier to apply and you can leave it on your scalp) for dr. Lee so it's too early to tell, but can't pull out my hair which is a good sign I guess.

I am using it with minoxidil 5%(maybe adding nizoral 2% too) combination. Will post results after 3+ months

make sure your on the lookout for sides because i once heard that the chances of sides are greater due to the fast absorption of the liquid....But with the 5% cream it absorbs at a slower rate . :dunno: But this is what read and it was basically an anecdote from another member so it probably doesnt have much validity.

Yeah I read it too. But then again some guy didn't get results from 5% as opposed to the 2% probably because it wasnt absorbing well enough.

I will try the 2% first. No side effects to this day.

I remind everybody that I used to have a link available to a study by a doctor who tested topical spironolactone by applying it in two different ways (alcoholic solutions, and creams), and found that the cream worked much better than the solution!!

I tried spironolactone cream twice on two different occasions and both times it gave me sides, so I think while it may not be as potent as Finasteride, it is still undoubtedly strong enough to halt male pattern baldness when used in conjuction with nizoral, Minoz, Copper Peptides etc...

Inland's story is a great example of successfully using spironolactone to maintain density and thickness gained from the previous use of Finasteride

I used Dr. Lee's spironolactone cream for approximately 1 year and didn't observe any positive results. That being said I was only using it on the hairline and temples, but I continued to experience general degradation in this area during the entire period I used spironolactone. I was also using Dr. Lee's 5% minoxidil at night, foam in the morning and fincar/Dr. Lee's finasteride everyday.

I bought and re-order from this site. I have been using for about 10 months (3 bottles sofar). Twice daily. More amount apllied to thinnning area and lesser amount on the rest of the scalp. No sides. Good hair maintenance with some growth. I am quite satisfied with the result so far, and hope for more growth in months to come.

I have had great success with oral finasteride for 3 years and I am going to try S5 Cream from hairgen.

If I continue to have success using this then I will know it is good. I usually ignore sheds as I believe they are don't really mean if a product works or not. I will try it for 6 months - 1 year and check the results.

For me success is maintenance. I am not really interested in regrowth. My thinning is defuse all over and crown. My hairline is NW1 but crown is very very thin.

I have been using nizoral 1% 3-4 times a week (nizoral doesn't make my scalp itchy or anything so i just use it more then most) and rogaine foam and am thinking about adding an androgen blocker like finasteride or spironolactone. When i looked up spironolactone online most of the hits were for females trying to stop acne and men trying to change genders into women, and were taking spironolactone to basically destroy there balls. Now i don't know much about spironolactone, but does the topical use have any potential "female-ization" effects? because i am not interested in taking a risk like that.

Could you talk more about your oral spironolactone success? How much do you use and how often, and what results?

I'm not sure if I should ask in this thread or make a separate one, but as far as side effects...did anyone notice that they felt more tired when using spironolactone? I'm not sure how to describe it correctly...I started using spironolactone a couple weeks ago, and at some point soon after I just started feeling really heavy-headed (you know, like when you just can't seem to wake up, I guess?). None of my habits had changed, I'm not sick...but I stopped using it a couple days ago just to see what would happen, and who knows, maybe it IS just psychological but I don't have those symptoms anymore.

The only side effect I knew about before starting was the potential for a rash to start up. In fact, as far as I'd heard, there really WERE no side effects (as opposed to the spironolactone pills). So it's not a case of me hearing about side effects and then subconsciously making myself believe I have them. It wasn't until after this whole issue began that I did a search online, and saw one person talking about "brain fog." I don't know if they were trying to describe the same thing I was dealing with or not.

Anyway, who knows. It could be something else that -just happened- to start up at the same time as my spironolactone usage. Goodness knows there've been weirder coincidences in the world. :p I just wondered if anyone else had had the same experience. I don't want to stop using it permanently, but I also work with sharp objects so it's probably not a good idea to go in with my brain at less than 100%. :p

Brain fog is a possibility. I saw a thread on the Dealing with Side Effects forum where a guy claimed he got gynecomastia from topical spironolactone...

As for me, no results yet but it's only been 3 weeks.
