As per the title.

I started this because I've always been curious about the roll that a (temporary) reflex-hyperandrogenicity plays during finasteride shedding. I don't really buy into the "synchronized shed from starting med" theory.

Discussion welcomed.

Where are the scalp itch went down after starting finasteride options? That's my experience. More scalp itch before finasteride, but more hair loss after finasteride.....

FYI, when new hairs are growing in, especially after a finasteride induced shedding phase, it is common for the scalp to break out and itch. But let's just call it "reflex-hyperandrogenicity", SMH! -___-

The shed when starting the medicine is due to changes in androgen levels, but it is only temporary.

This poll is not about finasteride reducing itch after the shedding or not. I'm just curious about the correlation between shedding and a temporary reflex-hyperandro and the increased itch that comes with it.

Well I guess most people can tell the difference between itch from new hair sprouting and androgen induced inflammation...

I was never conscious of a "shedding phase" taking place

The itch I often felt in my hairline/male pattern baldness area did basically disappear though. Could have been finasteride/nizoral, or both. Either way I'm glad it's gone

I experienced accelerated hairloss/miniaturization on finasteride but never had an initial shed (I hed a massive shed nine months after starting), never had inflammation or an itchy scalp, or oily skin or increased sebum. It just super sensitized all of my hair to DHT. There are no safe areas anymore. This drug can turn DHT resistant hairs into DHT sensitive hairs. I have bald spots in my donor area to prove it. That's scary.

From what I recall I had terrible itch during the first month or two of finasteride. Never had it before. After that I haven't had it at all.
