Thank you for your response. So it did thicken your hair? When you say minor do you mean NW1 just diffuse?

Lurk my old posts for pictures. My hair line thickened a little. During my first visit, my derm said to me "You're still a Norwood 1 but you're starting to recede a little."

In my opinion anyone who maintains on finasteride does not know if it was because of finasteride or in spite of finasteride.

Personally I am NW4 at 37 and will only consider it to be effective if I see some regrowth or thickening. It has only been a month so far though. My hair loss had already pretty much stopped at NW4 before starting taking finasteride.

If nothing changes I'm not interested and will sadly and likely proceed to baldness.

I think that's easier for me to say at this stage though. If earlier Norwood then I can imagine people will latch on to finasteride due to fear of progression.

There are some good results in the Success Stories forum but they are quite rare unfortunately.

Good luck either way.

So far, I'm on finasteride for one month. What it did was: lost my morning boners, random ball ache now and then, really bad shed at the top of my head, but I really can't tell coz I'm new to this. But I noticed that my hairfall is getting less and less. I used to wake up and see my pillow with lots of hair which is disgusting, but now, 1 month with it, when I wake up, it's quite surprising to see little to none hair fall to my pillows.

initial hair shed is common. if you lost your boners you should probably lower your dosage though.

I'm actually not quite sure why everyone takes a "one size fits all approach". when drugs are administered in a hospital, they usually administer it based on your height, weight, age etc. So 1mg in my opinion is too much for the majority of people, especially if they're on the smaller and lighter side.

Also if you have an inactive lifestyle i.e you stay inside a lot or are inside an office all day with no regular exercise/lifting, I wouldn't start finasteride yet.

Been on it for nearly 8 years, first 2 years holy f*** my hair was amazing, but after a year 5 my hairloss got worse and worse. Switch to duta, now my hairline is non-existing and receding badly all over my scalp.

28 years old, been on it for 6 months. Literally no difference, still losing slowly. Giving it a full year before switching to Dutasteride. If that doesn't work after a year as well, I'm buying a revolver and some bullets.

Was on it initially for a year and I felt my loss accelerated. After a year I added in oral minoxidil and got the beginnings of some nice regrowth and thickening, after 3 months on both I dropped the finasteride and started shedding pretty bad. After 2 months of shedding I got back on finasteride, added in topical estrogen too and have been now for a month and a half. Shedding has been going on for 3 and a half months now, lost all my regrowth and more. Hairs the worst its ever been right now, I hope things get better soon.. If not I may have to get castrated.

dude seek therapy if you're at that point... don't be insane like that.
Its not insane to get castrated, its insane to allow yourself to suffer with a problem that can be solved.
Honestly I'm not at that point yet but its an option in the future if nothing else works.

Your opinion is wrong, my brother was a thin nw3 8 years ago with a very solid bald spot. Fast forward 8 years he’s a full density nw2 with a completely recovered bald spot.

A lot of people say they "think" they got some regrowth. Tells you all you need to know...the results are generally minimal

In terms of the hair you already have ,has it made a difference to it? Has it made it thicker?
