Since this forum is innundated with negative issues/problems with finasteride, I thought I would start a thread for people to tell positive stories. I hope I am not jynxing myself! :)

Please state
1. Effect of finasteride
2. Duration you are on finasteride
3. That you have no side effects. OR if you had side effects how long until they dissapated.

Me, 3 weeks today. No problem or side effects. :)

hey,
well i have been on propecia for 29 days and so far no side effects at all. No shedding that I have noticed, just normal hair loss. I have also been on 5% minoxidil for 39 days with nothing to show. So I guess I am in good shape because of no side effects, lets just hope I respond to the treatments because my hairline is getting pretty thin.

Been on for 2 weeks.....feel pretty normal....penis works, get horny spouts and non-horny ones.......granted today was kinda weird i took my vitamins and my finasteride at the same time and i almost felt like i had to throw up and i had a bit of a headache...maybe to much for my body at one time...other than that good.....things are pretty bad right now with the hair but can only improve.....been on minoxidil for 3.5 months....think maybe my loss is slowing a bit.....so overall feeling good

Been on the "Pro" (as us fine Northeast balding mofo's call it...Holla) about 4 months , going on 5.
As soon as I started using it, my shedding quickly died down. At the time I was denying my hairloss, I would have masses of hair starnds covering my bathroom floor, soap bar, etc....Seriously my bathroom looked like a battlefield of dead hair......but maybe like 2 days after I started on Propecia, it looked like my hair falls out like when I was a kid... couple strands here and there....which is freeking spectacular!

The only side effect that I suffer from (not all the time) would be diarrhea
I havent read other posts about people who suffer from that....but it is one possible side effect.......other than that "performance" hasnt hindered whatsoever. Sometimes it feels like it has boosted it....and now I have a rapists wit.
SO, mothers lock up your daughters, the bald man cometh.

6 months, hair seems much fuller overall, but have gotten some recession as well as a little bit more temple thinning. still have tons of little hairs along my hairline that i'm hoping start to fill in those areas.

no side effects that i have noticed.

Been on finasteride for 10.5 months, shedding at month 8-9 and a few sides but things seem to be OK now. In general times I think my hair is doing alright actually. It seems to be holding since I took finasteride which is good news actually....

1. Been using Finasteride 1 mg daily since September 1, 2002. So almost 2 and 1/2 years. Currently take a dose every other day.

2. Saw thickening of the thinning hair on the vertex and some minor improvement on the hairline. I'll take what I can get, however. :)

3. No side effects, no sheds.

Wow, these are great stories to read! I was starting to mistakenly believe side effects were more prevalent then Merck admits. Yes, I try to remember people come here mainly if they have problems...but it still got me nervous to read all of them daily!

Please keep adding & updating this thread!

Dr Lee:

"I have never agreed with Merck's report of the incidence of side effects due to initial Propecia use. My experience with finasteride is that the percentage of patients with side effects of decreased libido, erectile dysfunction and/or ejaculatory disorder is approximately 5 or 6 times higher than the 3.8% that Merck reports. Initially, Merck claimed that the incidence of side effects was less than 2%. Since assessing 'decreased libido' is of such a subjective nature, I have repeatedly asked for a copy of Merck's original clinical trials. On each occasion, I've been denied a copy of that study. It is not surprising that the incidence of side effects declined dramatically in the fifth year of use. Patients who did have sexual side effects simply wouldn't tolerate those side effects for five years. With this in mind, the report of 0.6% of Propecia users having sexual side effects after five years of use sounds incorrect and misleading.

Right when I got on finasteride (first week, 2 weeks) I had a big labido drop. But it turned around a few weeks later, I've been on a little over 4 weeks now and i'm 100% back to normal. Moderate weight gain that I can manage to stabalize with excercise. Other than that, it's great.

More than 2 years off Propecia. Sexual problems STILL haven't gone away and are as bad as ever.

The sh*t works to boost density where I still had coverage but failed to fill in bald spots. But, finasteride did shrink the bald spot a bit but thats when I added min and topical anti-inflammation product to the scalp and now I'm seeing vellus hair grow in slick spots. Been on finasteride for 11 months and expect vortex to be covered in another year at this rate.unfortunately the front is slower to respond but vellus hair did show up.

on propecia 8 weeks..comments on friends say that my hair looks darker than the previous time.....Initial side effects during the first week like decreased libido and depression..but not too serious...no massive shedding.....same hair loss as before....but hair feels thicker and smoother when touched in the wet.
