Potentially The Worst Responder To Finasteride... Ever?

Is this fact or opinion? Sounds like the guy has pretty good reason to believe finasteride has made his hair worse

It's fact. To put it as simply as possible, DHT is the cause of hair loss, and finasteride lowers DHT. Shedding does not equal balding, it is temporary hair loss that grows back. To say he has good reason to believe finasteride caused him to go bald is the same as saying I have good reason to believe that wearing black yesterday made it rain. I wore a black shirt, and it rained, therefore wearing black shirts makes it rain.

Pretty much this. It’s possible that blocking DHT doesn’t stop your hair loss, but blocking DHT is not the cause of further hair loss.

@Jon F don't listen to these guys, if I were you I would look at an alternative to finasteride, that's what I'm doing. These guys are defending it because they havent had the same reaction as us and for some reason they think because it hasn't happened to them then it can't happen. Look up reflex androgenicity which is a medically accepted reaction to finasteride which actually exacerbates balding - it has happened to hundreds of other people on this site and people who had been on the drug for so much longer than me. I even got a refund from the pharmacy I got my finasteride from because I proved how badly it affected my hair and they said they had never seen this happen to someone! It wasn't a continuation to my male pattern baldness because since I've stopped I maybe lose 1-2 hairs a day so my balding has just returned to normal again however it has thinned out considerably. Also the irritation is horrific and not worth it, I still have the itch from time to time which I NEVER had in my life before finasteride

I have just been advised by a pharmacy that the pills I am taking are not recommnded!! Apparently if you have 5mg tablets and are breaking them up this is wrong. Finasteride is supposed to come in 1mg tablets. I am stopping immediatly and I would advise others to do the same.
Finasteride CAN mess you up that is FACT.
Sorry trolls.

For real. Dude never had hair loss before he started taking a hair loss drug. I guess he was taking it for prostate health? Then he lost 60% of his hair in three months even though he's still basically a fullhead. Now he only lose 1-2 hairs a day lol This guy is one for the record books.

Hi Pegasus,
If this thread is doing anything it is at least highlighting the amount of dis/information there is out there. Thank you for putting my mind at rest regarding what the pharmacist said though.

Today, 5 months since taking finasteride and 2.5 since I stopped it I have literally destroyed my hair - areas that were full and healthy are now thinning diffusely. My hair that was so thick before starting finasteride now comes out with ease.
This picture is quite embarrassing for me as not only does it highlight my horrific unnatural pattern of hairloss but I have also never had a problem with seborrheic dermatitis and I have tried everything to get rid of it, it just seems to get worse. But still people say I have BDD and finasteride was not the cause of my hairloss. Yet, after I post this - there will still be people who disregard my situation and tell me it would've been the same had I never touched finasteride...

You have WET unstyled hair that's thicker than the DRY unstyled hair of most men in their 20s. Kindly f*** off, please.

What's wrong with you? Why can't you understand how distressing this is for me? Going from having no problems with hairloss (other than slightly receding temples) to verging on shaving it in the space of 5 months. Stop being a f*****g dick

You're not even close to being at "just shave it" stage.

Yes but my hair compared to six months ago makes me feel sick every minute - there's no way this is balding naturally. Finasteride has literally decimated my hair and it's not going to come back

Hey mate. I’m in a similar situation where I’m diffusing all over, but if I grow it out and keep it dry I get okay coverage - it’s gotten pretty bad pretty quickly though. I reckon I have some idea of the pain you’re going through - it’s bloody tough. Try to be proactive about it. Go to a derm/hair specialist and tell them what’s happening, get some bloods done etc... I’ve found using Nizoral 2% with a tiny drop of tea tree oil and leaving it in there for 10-15 mins before rinsing has helped with the dermatitis and itch. You’ve kind of got to be liberal with it too and if you see hairs all over your hands just know they were destined to come out anyway. No home run, but it’s certainly helped. I do that every second day. In terms of finasteride, I also doubt it’s effectiveness, but I’m also somewhat early in to using it so I’m sticking it out. Schedule more frequent visits to the derm/hair specialist to track where you’re at and discuss your concerns.

There’s no easy solution here and it’s a shitty position to be in. Do the best you can and stick with it.

That's insane in one year, and definitely not due to taking finasteride. The thing is if your hair loss is that aggressive then finasteride can't stop it. Maybe you could've slowed it down with dutasteride. Question, do you watch a lot of p**rn?
Do you think p**rn and masturbation can be associated to hair loss in some cases?
