hey guys, been on propecia for 7 and a half months. Just wanting some advice if anybody has went through this and what it means. Since i began propecia i have the same density and my hair looks exactly the same but in the last 4/5 weeks i have noticed i have been shedding loads of small wispy hairs, what does this mean? is it a good or bad thing? i am not shedding any long hair and my scalp feels fine. is this the treatment starting to work etc?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

thanks dude, it just scared me a bit because i have never noticed hair like that falling out before. was worrying it was a bad reaction to propecia. do you think this will continue or a temporary reaction - grow back thicker?

is this quite common to shed the short wispy hairs after 6 months, as i thought this would have happened in the first 3 months?

It is possible that it took your body a long time to say "Hey wait a minute, less DHT, maybe these hair follicles aren't ready to die yet!" Or however the system works since we seem to know so little about it.

I'd stick with it, the short whispy hairs being shed is a good thing. If you aren't getting worse, I'd stick it out to 2 years.

You might want to add minoxodil if you go another 3-4 months and see no real results (but don't quit finasteride, it might be keeping you from losing anything else)
