You haven't spent much time reading alt.baldspot, have you? :)

A while back I got tired of seeing people say that they had never heard of any Proxiphen success stories, so I started going through old alt.baldspot posts and saving them. I stopped when I got to an even dozen, and posted them on these hairloss sites. I still have that file; do you want me to post those success stories again?

Dr. Proctor doesn't promote his products very much. His Web site isn't very flashy, and even his comments and replies on sites like this (when he bothers to make any) are notorious for being abrupt and to-the-point. For those reasons, very few balding people know anything at all about his stuff, which is a shame. All that most of them really seem to know about are Rogaine and Propecia, and the endless variations on those same two themes (look at Dr. Lee's focus on all those minoxidil products he has). I think that's regrettable, because there's a lot more to treating hairloss than just minoxidil and finasteride and the occasional oddball ingredient like azelaic acid.

Bryan you crack me up.

If I took my BEFORE photos in the lighting used on Dr Proctors photos I would have appeared to have a full head of hair.

As I said if the product worked it would be all over these forums

Youa re thick headed and will argue this to death but the fact is you have not shown me ANYTHING here

Proxy has minoxidil in it so of course it will generate some regrowth

Anything that can stop the progression of balding (and actually cause some modest thickening) can be considered a "success story", for the reasons which have already been widely discussed on this forum.

LOL!! Yeah, right.

Prox-N doesn't contain any minoxidil. Not a single molecule.

I have pictures from before under low light that ai will post just to show you.

MY pics are taken DIRECTLY UNDER bright flourescent lighting in a white room.

That is the harshest lighting, Proctors pics are a joke.

I would love to see a hair transplant DR post pics under that lighting and hear all the grief he would get on the forums.

Too bad all the guys in the photos used PROXYPHEN which does contain minoxidil.

Obviously the definition of "sucess" varies GREATLY from person to person

Oh this should be good..........

What is better than finasteride except finasteride and Rogaine ?

Dr. Proctor (who has been in this business for about the last 25 years or so) has made the equally bold statement that Proxiphen is "unquestionably more effective than finasteride alone". I have no particular reason to doubt his judgement.

Yea no minoxidil here, lol

BTW the guys on the website were using this not Proxy N.

Proxiphen ( Prescription Product for Hair Loss Treatment )

Proxiphen contains minoxidil, as well as the prescription agents phenytoin and spironolactone ( a potent topically-effective antiandrogen ) SODs, copper peptides, TEMPO, PBN, etc.. Over a dozen active ingredients in all. It grows significantly more hair on more people than any other agent. Because it contains prescription agents, Proxiphen can only be dispensed on a physician's diagnosis of hair loss. Read the special instructions on how to obtain Prescription Proxiphen without coming to Houston. The cost is $100 for a one-month supply

Yes what the hell happened with that ru58841? Other than problems with storage and finding and setting a suitable vehicle for absorbtion there doesnt seem to be anything bad about it. They just apparently stopped testing its use for hairloss and it didnt get marketed.

I never really followed it but I thought I remember hearing something about bad side effects

Then you really have a bad memory
It's probably safer than finasteride, but it has a reputation of being unstable and sensitive for heatchanges.

Follicle84: It's a money question, check out the experimental section for the discussion.

Finasteride is the most effective baldness treatment available.

Those are some pretty bold claims! :)

No kidding, I see it this way: finasteride is good for maintaining, and minoxidil is good for regrowth.

When you combine the two, you have a synergetic effect (with a little luck) and the results can be great.

finasteride got me stabilized, minoxidil after that caused my hair to improve DRASTICALLY in just 4 months. I went from a dude who worried bout his hair alot, to now a guy who's starting to become really proud about his 'luscious locks' :)

Moral of the story(is that a used expression in english?): DONT UNDERESTIMATE minoxidil! and certainly not the combination of minoxidil and finasteride.
