Propecia and Coffee - Once and for all.

So I've been doing a lot of reading, searching, and I still don't understand if coffee has an effect
on propecia absorption.
I've been taking it for 3 weeks now, and I drink 1 cup of coffee every morning, and take the pill
at the same hour. It's very close, and I'm afraid I'm taking propecia for nothing.

I just need to hear from 1 person "Relaxe man I drink coffee every morning and use propecia for 5 years
and everything's shining.."

OR - I can stop drinking coffee :D (and start drinking blu...)

Any thoughts? facts?

Can you take the finasteride at night? Like before bed? Then you wouldn't have to worry about it.

Now why the hell didn't I think about it myself.
It was so obvious that I need to take it on mornings which is bull****.
Night it is. thanks for blowing my mind.
Anyway if there's someone who see this and knows if coffee affects propecia...it still would be nice. you know,
for the next generations.

i'm pretty sure the only reason that there was even a concern with coffee and propecia absorption is due to the fact that coffee is a diuretic which makes you piss more. leading to propecia being pissed out before it is absorbed. I can't imagine one cup of coffee having THAT big of effect

Mirroring what Bob said, coffee may make some dose-dependent medications less effective due more to the diuretic effect rather than any direct effect on the active chemical itself. I'm fairly certain caffeine has the chemical propensity to render some medications inert, but finasteride is not known to be one of them.

Even with the diuretic effect, finasteride has such a small effective dose that this couldn't possibly make a significant difference. When I first started taking finasteride almost 2 years ago, I drank literally 6-8 cups of coffee a day for almost a year. I had some fantastic results from finasteride in 4 months. After basically quitting coffee, I still have the same full head of hair that I did 4 months after starting.

My hairline improved with Finasteride while using caffeine in various forms; coffea, tablets, "diabetes in a can" (sugary energy drinks), etc. I've been using caffeine the entire 6 years I've been on finasteride and it still worked surprisingly well for me. If coffee is going to make you piss in the morning, then so would drinking a lot of water throughout the day,...so I'd say that this debate is just based on pseudoscience.
