If you get man boobs as a side effect of propecia, will they go away if you stop taking it (like all the other sides)?

Unfortunately - if you get them from using finasteride - the only way to get of them is surgery.

No - I'm not joking. The good news is that taking finasteride does not guarantee you'll develop man breasts - but there is a slight chance.

AFAIK - working out will make your big man boobs more muscular - but will not make them go away.

Take it from a flat chested male who went on proscar for 8 months, grew tits, quit proscar, and spent the next 5 years doing pushups and working out - to no avail.

Do a search here on gyno.

It's a widely discussed topic.

Early discountinuation of the drug might reduce the long-term effects of Gyno, but once you get it, it can only be removed by surgery. Luckily, slight "puff" in the nipples is fairly common among our bloated American society, and many plastic surgeons can remove it on the cheap.

However, the chance of you getting gyno is very slim.

if you get gyno (a lot of body builders get this) just use steroids and then get surgery. might as well get a super muscle body that the pros get with the same side effects.

I know that you do get some develepment from this drug but if you work out it does give good pecks if you have a flat chest.

It will come back after you stop it, as I know.

So, take it easy...

I took Prosar (1.25mg) daily seven years ago when I was 23 years old. After a couple of months, my right breast became tender and I developed gyno. I had to have it surgically removed and luckily for me I had private medical insurance. I was very lean and athletic and surgery was the only option.

In my experience, messing with DHT inhibitors/hormones is dodgy ground. Maybe the dose was too high? Who knows?

Not to contradict you, but I'm putting this out there to reduce scare mongering.

I have been on 1.25 finasteride for 3 years and have not suffered one side effect. So while you are rolling the dice, you have a much, much greater chance of not having a problem.

Unfortunately, I did suffer this effect on my left chest. Not too severe because I stopped taking Propecia after that occurred.

no big lumps...but i can squeeze a small lump...seems natural. never had itchiness or soreness, but over a month to 2 month time i noticed my boobs came out a little bit cuz my forearm would graze it...funny in a bad way. my main prob is that the chest just looks a little feminine/fatty lookin and my nipples are always puffy, but i can pinch them and they will look fine for a min or so. if my nips would stay hard i would be happy.

A couple gyno questions if someone can help:

Since it seems you can't get rid of it from stopping finasteride, does stopping it as soon as you notice it help? ie: will it continue to grow and be a problem once you GET IT? Does stopping at an early stage help reverse it AT ALL? What would be the first thing you'd notice: enlarged breast, puffy nipples, sensitivity (nipple, breast)?

Thanks.

Same here, but on propecia for 3+ years
