Propecia and Nizoral ?'s

I have a few questions for anyone with knowledge thats feeling nice enough to answer.

Propecia - I keep reading that this is the best way to stop your hairloss. But how long do you have to take it? If I buy this stuff, am I going to have to take it everyday for the rest of my life? Is that really good for your hormones? Obviously nobody can answer that last question because its only been on the market for a few years, so I guess I should ask - Are any of you worried that there may be long term side effects?

Nizoral 2% - I just bought a bottle of this from some guy on ebay and I just want to make sure its the real thing. The shampoo is pink, not much scent, and kind of watery. Not extremely watery but its not near as thick as normal shampoo. And it doesnt make my scalp tingle or anything. Is it supposed to be that way? Thanks. :)

Nizoral should be a tad thinner than handsoap and it is pink.

Finasteride( propecia, proscar, fincar, etc) does need to be taken "forever" Once your body adjusts to it you will be fine.

Im sorry I dont quite understand. How do you know when your body is adjusted to it? How do you know when its okay to stop taking it? I thought when you quit, any regrowth would fall out and your hairloss would continue.

Nizoral is pink and watery like Dinzy says with little (if any) scent.

Finasteride will reduce the amount of DHT attacking your follicles while you take it, when you stop the DHT will continue its onslaught, so you you will need to take it forever, similarly will need to brush your teeth forever if you wish to keep them.

It is 'ok' to stop taking finasteride anytime you like, but bear in mind the protection it offers you hair will also be removed.

Some peoples hormones have an initial adjustment in the first one, two or three months to the drug, this often manifests itself as lack of sex drive, watery semen and a host of other minor side effects, the vast majority (98%) suffer no sexual side effects and those who do will see them dissapate with continued use of the drug.

Thanks, that was the type of response I was looking for. Im 26 now, so I figured as long as theres no major sides I would take it until Im about 35. By then I probably wont be able to get 20 something girls anymore anyway and thats really the only reason I care if I lose my hair or not. :p

BTW - Have there been any reports of people having major problems from taking finasteride for a long period of time? Like 5 or more years?

BPH (enlarged prostate) patients have taken five times the hair loss dose (5mg instead of 1mg) for well over a decade and there is no reports of serious side effects relating to long term use.

But......

There is always the very slim risk of gyno (fatty deposits in the breast area), but this is very very rare.

Branco seems to be the Nizoral expert on the board, I would listen to him and his experiences.
