Propecia disappointment

I started taking Propecia on 21/8/2009. I've been getting it from Boots pharmacists so whilst expensive I know it is genuine. I had good hopes that this would really help me out. I thought if it would just thicken up what I have, maybe a little regrowth in the temples (just a modest amount would've been good) and I thought 'I could deal with that, I'll throw in minoxidil in a couple of years if needs be and then in a few years time there'll be something new to try..." Well, you've got to try and keep your hopes up right?

Sadly, Propecia doesnt seem to have done anything at all. I'm approaching Norwood 4 and if this carries on I don't think the pharmacist will continue me on Propecia once the 12 months is up. My only 'hope' is to plead for another 9 months on finasteride whilst I add Rogaine foam and see what happens after 1 year and 9 months.

It is such a shame as hair loss really affects me badly and responding to finasteride would have been such a boost. I wish I had some positive news to report but :dunno: I'm afraid I don't.

That sucks man... maybe if you don't get your prescription renewed you should try to get some generics for a few months? Don't most people say it's worth staying on finasteride for about a year and a half? The generics will cost you nearly nothing so you haven't much to lose really.

Sorry man. In about 10% of users, propecia does not work. I guess it all boils down to finding out the cause of your hair loss first before deciding on a treatment plan

It could just take longer than 8 months to work though..
And I thought that 10% were just the ones who were below baseline after 5 years? Some of them might have been further below baseline if they hadn't taken it...
