Propecia & Fina craziness!

Well I've undergone two testings: one for my liver and one for thyroid in order to get a prescription for Fina. After four weeks of going back and forth to the clinic, the doctor only prescribed me 1mg FINASTERIDE, I was skeptical since I knew that target and walmart did not carry a 1mg, but only a 5mg, so I went to the pharmacy there anyways. The pharmacist said that the program for $9 a month supply was only for 5mg finadesteride. He said what he can give me was propecia for 1mg which is 73$/30days supply. I can't believe it! It's so much more expensive! So I told my doctor and she said that she's not willing to prescribe me the 5mg one because it's impossible to cut the pill by 1/5 exact.

I don't know what to do. What's the difference between this 1mg propecia and 5mg finasteride that costs dramatically lower than propecia itself. I thought they were the same?

What would you do in this situation?

I apologize for the long read.

The difference is that propecia or 1mg finasteride is not available in a generic, but the 5mg dose is, you need to find a new Doctor.

What should I say to the doctor? My reasonings? What's generic etc? Sorry I am fairly new.
