or at least it appears that it has worked...last time i shaved my head (about a year ago) i had a noticable horse shoe pattern and it looked awful. i shaved my head this past sunday and you can't notice any hair loss at all anymore.... except for my hair line but i had this hair line since i was about 17 and it seriously looks fine. So from the looks of it, propecia has done something...i just didn't notice when i had long hair cause i was noticing soooooo much fall out...every day. hmm. however, propecia has taken a toll on my sex life. i am having some serious libido issues and a very low interest in sex in general. i miss it though. i won't get into too much detail as to why, but i really want my sex life back. i think what i'm going to do is take on fluridil for a while and ween off propecia. Propecia has so many studies to back it up that it does inhibit alpha 5-R. i wish there was more to back up fluridil's ability to block androgen receptors. but i also don't want to loose my hair again...ugh...i guess i will just keep waiting. :hairy:

jimmy can you try 0.2 mg every three days. Even that should be much better than completely stopping it.

good point ! although I would extrapalate a more averaged/linear reading of those figures (if you know what I mean)

the fact 0.04mg is more effecive at day 3, 4 and 5 than 0.2mg tells me there is a certain amount of interpretation required.

0.5mg every three days looks like another good option.

I would guess that there is a certain amount of statistical 'noise' in the measurements. I doubt the small differences between the 0.2 and 0.04 values at those days is statistically significant.

If it's effecting your sex life then instead of completely stop using it. You should use .5MG instead of 1MG and see if your sex drive will go back to normal after a few weeks. If I was you, I would stay on the drug and over time the sex drive will go back to normal. But I don't have that problem and hair for me is more important then sex because I have to look at myself and I need to like what I see. That will change when I'm 60 and I dont care if I'm bald or not but at 22 it is very important.

thanks for the feed back....i guess i should cliarify more. i have been using .5mgs since november (5.5months) and it has helped...but not to the point where i can get randy with a girl for more than one round. Even if it's once a day it is sometimes difficult...heh ...heh...ah. I just feel that if you lower your dosage to .2 mgs you may increase libido levels...but this is the result of higher DHT levels which in turn will cause more hair loss. So it almost seems pointless. But you guys are right, i don't want to quit completely. i think i will get on fluridil and possibly spironolactone and go down to .2 mg of propecia.

what a trick...i do things to get my hair back so i can get more girls but the things i am doing to get my hair back are making the things i want to do with girls obsolete. a nice balance. :hairy:

Life's a b**ch. Hope you can find a happy medium w/ a super reduced dose while still getting laid.

Good luck jimmy.

If I were you I would wait a little longer before making any changes. Many of the side effects of finasteride reduce with time, and you have only been using for 5.5 months. Why not wait a year to see what happens.

In the meantime there are other options to help your sex life. v**** and cialis are great for erections. Yohimbine, deprenyl and arginine are things you could look into for extra libido.

jimmystanley, for someone who is all guns about getting his hair back, no matter what, I can't figure you out! Seriously. You've fired back at me for posting so much about my treatment program and yet here you state that your treatment program is working yet it's killing your labido:( I guess that you need to evaluate what is important to you in the long run. Eeeesh! Seriously, if I had a treatment, (ie. Propecia for you) that was working for me, dang, I'd try seeing how to retain the treatment before letting it go. Let your other head do the thinking on this bud.

ya...

i'm going to try picking up fluridil again and give spironolactone 5% a try (should be easier cause i have such short hair now) and very very low dosages of finasteride...maybe like .1 mgs or something...

i'm just going to wait a bit till my seb derm is under control. shaving the heed helped out big time...just have some build up here and there to get rid of.
