After a year on Propecia, I am battling hormones in turmoil. Elevated E2, Low Free T. Messed up T3/T4. Same story. Low libido, fatigue. A loss of manliness. Propecia is a hell of a drug. I am 22 and have been "dealing" with hair loss for 5 years. I am a Norwood 2 or "2.5ish" but with further recession around the corner. Probably destined for NW6+. I was shedding while on Propecia, and still shedding now that I've been off. Word of advice. That one time you try to have sex and have a shitty erection while on Propecia.... RUN. Get off the drug and RUN AWAY, never look back. I've had to familiarize myself with TRT and every aspect of hormones as a result of using finasteride and my future is not clear at this point.
In any case, my main plea. I am never touching Propecia again. I can deal with baldness, but I have seen the things it can do to "some people", and want nothing to do with it. I have been using minoxidil 5% foam for a year and Nizoral 2%. These are staples and will continue to be part of my regime. I need to control DHT now. minoxidil has stabilized and grown peach fuzz, so my hair loss battle isn't completely lost. Am I trying to regrow my temples? Nope. I want to maintain and slowdown my future hairloss as best I can without a serum altering DHT blocker. I am trying to stablize so I can set myself up for an FUE transplant in a year or two. Until then, I will most likely be shaving my head to allow myself to save $$ on applying topicals through hair, but mainly to avoid obsessing over a "tiny" 1.5 inch recession that has destroyed my confidence. So.. what are my answers? spironolactone? If so, 2% or 5% cream? Revivogen in conjunction with spironolactone? I've heard about this RU thing but am concerned with long term availability. Basically, I am looking for the MOST EFFECTIVE solution to stabilize my hair loss on the entirety of my head without propecia, avodart etc. Thanks!
