Ok i'm angry. This bullshit pill, is making me violent. Its definitely making me feel confused and very spaced out and strange.

God, i dont want to end up hurting myself or someone around me

Can anyone please explain what the F is going on, and if this stuff is temporary or permanent?

This is a serious post, please don't think i'm just some bs newbie being retarted.

I'm experiencing side effects on Propecia, i always have even when i experimented back in the past, and i never really used it for too long because the side effects are insane. Literally.

But, i don't want to give up on my hair loss.

anyways, if i experience side effects on Propecia does that mean that i'll definitely experience side effects on avodart?

Anyways, someone get back to me. Thanks.

Explanation

I am sure someone will drop-by here and explain it in more detail, but essentially what is happening is you are experiencing a change in your body's chemistry by inducing an agent into it that promotes changes we don't fully understand yet. I would probably stop taking it if I were you. Quite some time ago I tried Saw Palmetto and Beta-Sistosterol and it did pretty much the same thing: violent mood swings and confusion. It may be temporary, but for me it didn't stop until I quit taking it.

On a side-note - I wonder if anyone is keeping a tally of all the side effects from finasteride. It has to be growing.

Good luck, MAM

finasteride causes decreased Allopregnanolone ? What is this and what does it do in the body? and why is it bad when decreased?

i agree with biz. i think you probably have an increase in testosterone due to inhibition of DHT. Normally, some testosterone is converted to DHT by the enzymes that propecia blocks. so, at first, when you start taking the drugs, you often have a burst of testosterone until your body compensates, and eventually your testost levels stabilize. If you have been taking this drug for over a month or so, and are still experiencing these sides, i would suggest going off the drug, or at the very least reducing the dosage to .5mg. There have been other studies, not related to hairloss, on injections of testosterone (or many other steroids for that matter) that demonstrated symptoms similar to yours.

in summary, try reducing the dosage at least by half, in not more. give it some more time to try and stabilize. or, if you are truly feel that you cannot control your actions (ie. always thinking about hurting people or yourself) i would discontinue the drug. duasteride is worth a shot, people have different sides to different drugs, so you never know. but, know that mechanistically, duast is just a more potent form of propecia, and would probably only increase your testosterone even further than it is now, perhaps even creating exaggerations of the symptoms you are experiencing now.

just my opinion.

oh my god you guys......

back when i quit my antidepressant paxil, i thought THAT was what was causing my shitty feelings, and now i discovered that it was propecia.

PROPECIA! i didnt know this could be so powerful. I literally feel, anxious, very violent...and i missed class today because of it.

BUT when i get off it...my scalp starts itching again, ...

:SIGH: and im already taking like .5 of it. im on a very low dose.

why is my body so sensitive to this sh*t?

Also, whats the other hormone propecia lowers and why sin't it good?

someone PLEASE get back to me.

this is literally a suicide or live situation. hate to sound all dramatic but i've never felt worse in my life, and yes im letting it go from my system.

this is bullshit. id rather be bald and go get transplants.

if i got a transplant,...would that hair eventually fall out too or what?

how does that really work. im curoius.

:sigh: this sucks.

You should see a doctor or psychologist. They could help you to find the reason for the anxiety. Propecia and anxiety at the same time could be coincidence also.

1. STOP TAKING finasteride
2. STOP FREAKING OUT
3. TALK TO A DOCTOR

finasteride reduces 5ar. 5ar is used to manufacture Allopregnanolone from progesterone. Allopregnanolone is a neuroactive steroid that acts on the GABA receptors which modulate anxiety.

A reduction in Allopregnanolone could lead to an increase in anxiety.

You could also be feeling the results of the increase in testosterone that often comes with Finasteride use

well ive been having violent mood swings ever since my hairloss started. I think after you reach the bottom stuff doesnt bother you as much anymore so i do not fear the side effects because chances are ive already experienced far worse.

I guess its a trade off - to go on propecia you got to be prepared to deal with the side effects

ok listen, if it increases anxiety and testosterone, does the body eventually overcompensate, and the side effects will subdue, or am i screwed?

also is there anything i can take like a valium, or work out more to overcompensate for the testosterone?

im willing to try here. or maybetheres a drug out there on the market to counterattack propecias effects?

I want my hair. guys please help me.

try increasing your dosage very gradually by cutting pills--i.e. .25 mg or LESS for a week or so, then .5 etc..............

nickie, from someone who after 8 month is still combating paxil withdrawal. maybe paxil withdrawal has something to do with it. how long you been off it?
was you still taking paxil before taking propecia? or did you recover fully? if you fully recover from paxil withdrawal perhaps it isn't paxil, but another cause. maybe it is propecia. i recommend you go to see a doctor to help find the cause of what your experiencing. assuming it's propecia isn't the asnwer.

no no NO, paxil withdrawal was like 4 years ago LOL

that has NOTHING to do with now. i personally think im reacting very strongly to propecia. to be FAIR....its proscar....and i cut it into fifths,...but they're all uneven pieces, so one day i could be taking 1.34 mgs and the next day .67 and the next possibly 2.... and i take it every couple of days...i dunno... but if anything, taking this feels like drinking two cups of coffee with some valium, because i feel stimulated/anxious yet dumb and cant focus.

its a weird combo, but i'll go easy on it i guess

So could this be a temporary issue that the body can overcome or would the body eventually compensate and manufacture more allopregnalone?

I have no idea if there is a compensation mechanism...

When women go through menopause there is also a drop Allopregnanolone (but due to a reduction in progesterone) which is thought to possibly be responsible for the mood swings...

oh GREAT! so i'm taking a drug which is screweing up with my hormones, also screwing with my life and well being,

AND

now someone posts that testosterone is also to blame for hair loss?

IM NOT A GUINEA PIG! And i feel like one.

This is horrible. we're f*****g with our personal health and lives to not even permanently and 100% save our hair , but for some 49% ?

This is total bullshit.

we must be desperate.

Either that, or the manufacturers of these drugs should be shot.
