If you get side effects they usually go away if you continue use. Most people just quit right when they get sides and miss out on a side effect free finasteride experience.

I did this. Quit after three weeks. My libido went back to normal after about 6 days. I did 1/5th Proscar EOD, so I still have enough supply to try it again at a later time if I want. I think I'll stick to just minoxidil for a few months and then decide whether or not to start using finasteride again. Continuing a drug while have sexual side effects is easier said than done :/ no matter how much I want to keep my hair, not having morning wood or any spontaneous erections scared the **** out of me.

Usually. But if they don't then you're f*cked for life.

Who in their right mind would risk permanently damaging their cognitive, sexual and physical function for hair? I don't get it. Especially when it was reported people get it even after 10 years of taking it and some get it after a few weeks. And now there's evidence that it blocks allopregnanolone as well.

Sorry to poke your finasteride bubble but it is what it is.
finastride like any other drug has side effects, not more not less,if you think it is gonna **** you dont take it,but there are thousands of people taking it without side effects

The vast majority of users do not have side effects. Thats why it is an FDA-approved drug. Basically the reason you see everyone on here having sides is that if Propecia is working as intended and not causing sides, people do not come post about it. The people who have sides do post about it.

A huge amount of people take Propecia and studies have shown only a small percentage <5% have side effects. Its those 5% who post on here (not a knock against them, I would too). There is also a huge placebo effect going on where many of the sides are mentally produced or inadvertently associated with the drug. Once people are aware of the possibility of sides, they become hyper-aware of their own body and ultra-vigilant for any possibility of sides. I have a degree in psychology and could go on and on about this (PM me if you'd like).

I started on 0.5mg/day and noticed nothing. In 6-8 months my hair was much better. I'm now on 1mg with no sides either (3 years). If you get sides, drop your dosage. If that doesnt help maybe don't take it. In all likelihood you should not get sides.

I've been taking it for 2 years. Had minor sexual sides in the first 1-2 months. But my Sex drive is stronger now than it ever has been, although my diet has improved a lot since then too. I wish I hadn't read any of these forums before I started taking it, I could have started it 3 years earlier when I was NW2 but I got scared out of it by the unlucky 5% who get side effects (<1% permanent) who then become scare-mongerers on forums like this so I ended up losing tonnes more hair to NW3 then jumped straight on it and had a very positive experience. I am now back to NW2.5 which I'm not happy with so now need a hair transplant to get to a level I'm happy with. -.-
The risks are there. They are very well advertised. The few who get them know full well what those risks were before starting it. Regardless, most of this minority still try to scare everyone else away from it.
