I take dutasteride every day and if anything it has raised my libido... At the end of the day, the choice to take finasteride/ dutasteride should not be taken away from men simply because a few guys got nasty side-effects.

Yes but the rise in libido will only last a few months and would get back to normal after that, things may seem fine but In a few years permanent sexual dysfunction can creep up on you even when your on the meds. If you stop abruptly you'll make it even worse ! Never stop finasteride cold turkey it could take years to recover !! All this for hair I don't know what I was thinking I wouldn't wish this hell on anyone

Logical scientific explanation, please.
Why discontinuing a medicine which has sides lead to "taking years to recover"?
Are you telling that finasteride inhibits DHT, and when you stop it, bam, DHT completely dissapears?
I simply don't find any sense. It may exist, but i don't see it.

It is quite simple actually when you think of human body as an adaptable system when you take finasteride it reduces DHT by 70% by doing so it increases free Testosterone levels by the same amount.
The body try to compensate increased testosterone by lowering production and adapting production of T to normal levels while you take the finasteride.
When you stop there is no longer finasteride in your blood to prevent conversion to DHT and your testosterone level becomes lower and body compensates by producing more DHT and so lowering T level again.
And that is not the whole story finasteride also passes brain blood barrier and changes brain chemistry over time the same way, so when you quit brain chemistry is unbalanced.
Those changes in body and brain chemistry can persists for long time and depending on your age and physical condition they can become permanent.

So you basically have no DHT now, if you say that hairloss stopped completely.
But the poster above @diablodh says the contrary, that quitting finasteride leads to DHT explosion.

Start taking 3-6mg boron per day it will increase your T level in less then a month and is also helping with joints problems. there are other T boosters but this one is natural.

So you basically have no DHT now, if you say that hairloss stopped completely.

It is not a problem with DHT it is a problem with free testosterone which in cases with low libido is shown by test of SHBG high levels of SHBG are consistent with low libido.

Nice theory, but in reality this is untrue.
