lol.. I have never come across this before, but I dont think anybody on this forum has experienced it...

Have they come out thicker? And erm the closest topic I have heard to this is nose bleeding.. Oh well. Hope someone can be more beneficial than me!

It's a side effect of puberty. You grow hair in places like that ;)

I have had a simliar thing happen to me, nose hairs have been growing faster lately. Have had to cut them every week or so. I'm not too worried about it though.

My nose hair grows much faster and thicker now. I think this is due to minoxidil as is is too early to see efects from finasteride.

As you grow older your body produces more DHT causing hair to grow in strange places. I never had excessive nose or ear hair in my twenties, now I have to cut it every three days. Also once you cut something it grows back faster and thicker, remember that also.

I do see more body hair and it has to be from the minoxidil.

Is that true that your body produces more DHT as you age? I've never heard that before. I'm curious - where did you hear/read that?

It could just be that the hair follicles become more sensitive to DHT as time goes on. Doesn't baldness operate by the same mechanism? I always thought that it was sensitivity to DHT that made the difference, not the level of DHT itself. Maybe I'm wrong???

Also, 20something is right. The whole thing about cutting something and it growing back faster and thicker - that's a myth. I've been shaving the few stray hairs between my eyebrows since before high school, and they never grow back faster and thicker. This doesn't work with the hair on your head either.

Cheers.

How old are you invalid. If you are just reaching your early ti mid twenties (or even late teens) this is definitely age related. At the age of 26 I thought my beard had reached its maximun thickness. Boy was I wrong. It not only got thicker but it also started to grow higher up on my face. :( Dont worry this is normal for many many people. You will get used to it. :D

Stingray's right. If you look "south of the border" -- near your tallie-wacker, you might see some hair growth too ...

sh*t, I'm 21 and I still can't grow anything remotely resembling a full beard. But I have plenty of leg hair (and am developing chest hair now as well). I've been on finasteride for 3+ years, and noticed a gradual increase in total body/face hair. But still can't grow anything on my face.

Anyone else like me out there?

Actually, I believe this is a myth.

Actually from what I have read it is a fact, hair apart from on the head is controlled by hormones (DHT I THINK, could be wrong) its like when your beard first started, it was thin, keep shaving, it gets thicker, same goes for other hair that grows as you get oldier, I.E arm hair, if you dont believe me, try shaving a bit of your arm hair and see how thicker, and thicker it gets each time you shave!

But the hair on your HEAD, will NOT grow back faster and thicker, I think that is what you meant by 'myth'

Take care.

Shaving a hair does not affect its growth. The hairs just appear thicker because the razor cuts them very blunt, whereas normal hair usually thins toward the tip. Capisce?

YES SHAVING A HAIR MAKES IT THICKER. However it may depend on the area. But anyway.

I'm 23.... I'm a relatively hairless guy..... no hair on my back or chest..... pretty hairy legs tho.... the only facial hair I can grow is a mustache and on my chin.... so yeah the nose hair is probably puberty..... but who knows ;)

NO IT DOESN'T god dammit!
I've shaved every 2 days for as long as I've had facial hair, and it looks the same today as it did then. The first time you shave, the hairs are thin at the tip, because that's just how hairs grow... after you shave, the hair is the same diameter as the shaft. When you FIRST START shaving, the hair follicles are still growing. This is why it appears to thicken up while you shave. Do an experiment.. shave your dome. See how thick your hair gets.
