You can walk into boots without prescription. Opt for their hairloss plan. It costs £90 for a 3 months supply.
Alternatively, obtain a private prescription.
I guess a doctor has to approve it anyway, since Propecia is a prescription drug. Same deal with Asset Chemist and HW Prescription Service. HWPS is not a pharmacy. It's a medical service run by one or more doctors, which handle prescription requests. Prescriptions are sent to Asset Chemist.

Don't get ripped off on the stuff. You can get it from united pharmacies without a prescription.
You can get 6 months supply of generic Finasteride for less than £40. The same quantity 'prescribed' to me by a 'consultant' at a hair loss clinic would have set me back £175.
I won't touch the stuff though, but it's a personal decision.

Propecia contains 1mg Finasteride. Proscar contains 5mg Finasteride, some people buy this and cut it in to 4 pieces if its cheaper.
Or you can just buy generic Finasteride, marketed under names such as Finpecia. It's the same as Propecia but under a different name. It will say that it contains 1mg Finasteride.
It's a very personal decision due to the side effects and risk factor. I thought long and hard about it. Some guys get on with it fine, some not so good. Search through the forum and you'll find lots of posts about it.
