I started propecia a month and a half ago. it's suggested that you use nizoral dandruff shampoo a few times a week with it.

I'm holding off on rogaine for now anyway.

I've done the same. Been taking proscar (1.25mg per day) and Nizorol 5 times ish a week for approx. 6 weeks.
Don't really want to start on the minoxidil as i'm not sure it's for me.

I'm a NW3 diffuse thinner - especially the crown.

Would anyone advise to start using minoxidil now or wait?

I recommend minoxidil wholeheartedly, but I think it is a good idea, nevertheless, to hold off on it for a little while. For me, there was definitely shedding involved, so probably expect that part of it. However, it should subside within a few weeks. It definitely works, hence my recommendation. But if you're not sure about it, why don't you just try the 2%. This is what I use. It will take longer to get results, but the chance of side effects ( most likely scalp irritation) will be much less.

Hi David

Thanks for that.

My problem is that I would struggle to be able to apply the minoxidil twice a day due to lifestyle.
How easy is it to apply to the crown area - especially as i am a diffuse thinner as opposed to having "spots" with no hair. Also slightly receding at the temples.

Also, how easy is to apply for a diffuse thinner in general?
Apologies for asking even more questions!

cheers

P.s. where's best to get it from?

Sure, "do it." I very happy answer to answer your questions. And, yeah, I can definitely empathize with you about the inconvience. But I will say that the 2% dries much quicker than the 5%, maybe 20 minutes or less depending how much you put on. When I put mine on I use the 1ml dropper. Unfortunately, they don't package that with minoxidil anymore. All they have now is that dabble thing, I forgot the name of it. But regardless, simply put on a very light coat and spread it around a little, either with the dropper or with your finger. Don't put it on too heavy though because then you will eventually cause some irritation. The dry minoxidil will eventually cause a dandruff buildup. Therefore, you might have to wash your hair everyday to prevent this. But just put a little in your crown area area and just spread it out. You should be fine.

I got mine from ebay. This is by far the cheapest place that I found. Just make sure that the expiration dates are good if you go the ebay route. I have also used Walgreen's when they have a good sale. You could also try generic. I heard that Kirkland brand is good.

It's quite OK to just use Propecia. Then if you need you can add minoxidil.

the thing with minoxidil is it a major ball breaker ..i used it for about 6 months with propecia and nizoral and it did give a little extra fluff to my hair but i got so sick of using it after a while and gave up because you cant even really grow your hair long with it ..you gotta have short hair
